Manager, Category Activation (E-Commerce)

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Manager Category Activation, are to:

  • Develop roadmaps and activation plans to drive performance across key categories for Bayer;

  • Lead cross-functional resources in the development and execution of roadmaps;

  • Develop insightful growth stories and strategies by designing, conducting and implementing primary research and by mining syndicated research, synthesizing analytics, emerging trends, social media data, e-Commerce and prior research learning;

  • Utilize multichannel expertise to offer actionable, fact-based, strategic, point of view to inform and when necessary challenge business decisions, and to inspire deeper understanding among all stakeholders;

  • Listen to business challenges and translates to development of research approaches that will deliver actionable insights to the Customer and Category roadmap;

  • Must be able to offer foresight rather than just insight, helping to shape the future through strategic thought leadership;

  • Establish a “playbook” to help guide execution of strategies, including recommendations on how to prioritize capabilities and resources, including consumer experience;

  • Partner with the Bayer stakeholders to translate insights into category roadmaps;

  • Partner with industry capability providers, and fosters partnership with other like-minded organizations to drive scale and sustainable models;

  • Customize and assists in presenting category presentations;

  • Collaboratively diagnose business challenges and issues, translating them into well-defined business questions that can be answered through in market learning;

  • Mine data sources to identify growth opportunities and understand drivers of business performance;

  • Organize and visualize data in a meaningful and compelling way to draw insights and make recommendations;

  • Participate in category strategy development and business planning processes;

  • Develop and manages external partnership relationships;

  • Conduct ongoing retail controllable score carding analysis and evaluation.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree required with a minimum of 4 years of progressive Sales Strategy, Trade Marketing, Brand Marketing or Shopper Research experience in the consumer packaged goods industry, Ecommerce industry or related industry; MBA Desirable

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills and data-driven mind set;

  • Preferred candidates are extreme self-starters, determining a path forward and gaining partnership across the organization;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner to medium or large groups of any size;

  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, problem solve and translate into action-oriented recommendations and directions;

  • Strong customer-focused orientation and problem solving skills;

  • Customer focused with past Retailer exposure/experience;

  • Ability to prioritize opportunities based on required time invested;

  • Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple projects;

  • Competency in: communication, decision-making, problem solving, analytical skills, teamwork, developing relationships and leadership;

  • Ability to think independently and develop creative solutions through the assimilation of multiple data and research inputs;

  • Possess the ability to prioritize available resources, both direct and indirect reports, based on sound, strategic rationale.

  • Must be willing to travel to Whippany, NJ on a frequent basis (1 - 2 visits per month)
