Summary:

Reporting to the Amentum Full-Time Supply Supervisor, the contract Assistant Supply Supervisor is responsible for supporting the efficient and effective management of supply logistics operations at McMurdo Station. As second in charge of the summer Supply Department at McMurdo Station, this role will interact with station management, the National Science Foundation, military and other agency officials in a professional and tactful manner. The Supply Assistant Supervisor is accountable for the planning, monitoring, and reviewing work of subordinates and making recommendations concerning performance appraisal and professional development. This role assists the fulltime Supply Supervisor in coordinating the movement and storage of goods, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring timely delivery of supplies to various departments within the organization. Implements standard operating procedures and assists in the review and revision of operating procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Supply Supervisor in overseeing day-to-day supply logistics operations and providing a broad range of coordination for the department, including staff scheduling, data management and resource tracking.

  • Collaborate with internal Supply teams to gather and maintain reporting data and documentation for weekly reports to the Supply Supervisor, Station Management and Logistics Department Management.

  • Coordinate and monitor the receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

  • Assists in the management and tracking of labor allocations for all Supply department personnel.

  • Aids Supervisor in ensuring all departmental documentation and standard operations procedures (SOP’s) are effectively trained to, tracked and documented.

  • Assist in conducting regular inventory audits to reconcile physical stock with database records.

  • Assistance in analyzing supply chain data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

  • Responsible for implementing, maintaining, scheduling and presenting a consistent safe workplace program that is cascaded to all Supply work centers.

  • Aids with the maintence and tracking of all safety records and training requirements for personnel in ATTACK training tracker.

  • Help maintains emergency documentation, vessel operations organization charts, and contact lists

  • Assists, trains and works with vessel offload operations and procedure planning, setup, take down and reporting for the distribution of materials. May be assigned any role and work any shift in a 24-hour period during vessel offload or during other special operations while deployed.

  • Works with the Supply Supervisor to plan and organize meetings, arrange activities and events as essential in the Supply department as well as organizes and conducts daily/weekly safety meetings and maintains attendance and subject matter documentation.

  • Assists Supply Supervisor with the coordination of incoming staff, including documentation packets, training schedules and meet and greets upon arrival.

  • Maintains a proactive approach to problem solving and informational gathering, identifies and recommends needed changes to Supply department.

  • Interacts with others in a professional manner, whether by telephone, e-mail, or in-person. Operates personal tablets/computer and utilizes software programs, spreadsheets, databases, and perform report running, records search, data input, and data corrections.

  • Other duties as assigned by Supply department management; outdoor work will be required in varying temperatures.

Required Education, Experience, Certificates and Licenses:

  • BA/BS Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management or three years of equivalent experience working in any of the following fields: Inventory materials management, warehousing, cargo/transportation, supply chain or logistics or a minimum of two seasons experience working in the Transportation and Logistics (T&L) department or related areas in Antarctica.

  • Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Working knowledge of materials movement, purchasing, inventory, and hazardous materials

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • IBM Maximo experience.

  • Knowledge of SharePoint.

  • Strong ability to clearly and efficiently communicate to facilitate and disseminate information.

  • Previous deployment to Antarctica or experience with remote site Logistics and operations is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with government supply systems and inventory accounting requirements is strongly preferred.

Physical and/or Other Requirements :

  • Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods

  • Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica

  • Successful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer

  • Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF

  • Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum as required by the position.

  • Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold as required by the position.

  • Must participate in community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts & safety objectives.

  • Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
