Position Overview

POSITION OBJECTIVE: To run the rough mill and machining line safely and efficiently with the maximum amount of production and a minimal amount of off-quality. Works closely with shift supervisor and helps departments toward production and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge, & responsibility):

  1. Lead the rough mill and machining departments in safety, quality and production efforts. 2. Serving as the liaison between shift supervisor and the department associates.

    1. Making machine/process adjustments on line and on computer.

    2. Following specific instructions on each order.

    3. Achieving set quality standards.

    4. Monitoring parameters such as speed and pressure.

    5. Making adjustments to settings to accommodate different sizes of boards.

    6. Overall visual control of the entire line.

    7. Visual inspections of products for defects and grading.

    8. Completing computerized quality reports.

    9. Performing quality checks on finished product once per shift per line.

    10. Involvement in safety meetings

    11. Responsible for filling in for other line technicians when needed

    12. Troubleshooting with product specifications

    13. Keeping machines and work area clean and free of dust.

    14. Reading and analyzing charts and graphs.

    15. Taking measurements and working with SPC charts.

    16. Update production charts and tracking boards.

    17. Maintain open communication with other shifts and departments by radio and email .

    18. Perform other duties as requested by Supervisor or Department Manager.

    19. Inspecting and Signing off the Lead Portion of the Daily Instrument Verification Log Sheet in assigned area

    20. Willing to be an On the Job Trainer (OJT)

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge, & responsibility):

  1. Must be a team player

  2. Must effectively provide leadership in rough mill and machining departments

  3. Must set a positive example for departments

  4. Must communicate effectively with department supervisor

  5. Must take a leadership role in committees

  6. Cross-training for other jobs on rough mill and machining lines

  7. Work overtime as needed.

  8. Serve as fill-in supervisor during supervisor’s absence

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be able to bend, squat, and stoop several times a day.

  2. Must be able to stand for 8 - 12 hours a day.

  3. Must be able to climb stairs several times a day.

  4. Must be able to assist in lifting up to 75 lbs. several times a day.

  5. Must be able to drive a lift truck after training.

  6. Must be able to lift 35-50 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the day.

  7. Must be able to handle the stress of meeting goals and production requirements.

  8. Must be able to visualize defects in the product.

  9. Must be able to visualize color defects in the product.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Basic reading, writing, and math ability.

  2. Must be capable of being trained on current computer systems and software.

  3. Must be able to operate a lift truck once trained.

  4. Must be capable of learning and performing additional operations.

  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  6. Previous leadership experience preferred.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. On the job training

  2. Lift Truck training

  3. Must have all OSHA, SAFE, SMS, and plant specific training.

  4. Training on current plant computer systems and software

TOOL, EQUIPMENT, & MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Safety Glasses

  2. All PPE listed on JHA

SAFETY & SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must comply with all required OSHA, SAFE, and plant specific safety rules and regulations.

  2. Refer to the Plant JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) for this job for the prevention of accidents.

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to out-punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts PM
