Job Summary (general description of position purpose):

Travel to and provide classroom instruction and technical support to U.S. Army Aviation units worldwide. Provide support for Foreign Military Sales. Conduct testing on most current development of AMPS software. Use tools such as Power Point, Adobe Captivate, and One Note to develop training materials.

Work Scope (Duties & Responsibilities):

Work scope may include any/all of the following duties:

  • Must be able to perform formal and informal instruction.

  • Provide FSR support/expertise as requested by the Product Directorate Aviation Communication Mission Control (PD ACMC).

  • Provide Help Desk support.

Knowledge, skills & abilities required:

  • Understanding of mission planning concepts and aircraft performance factors is required; crew experience is highly desired.

  • Understanding of airspace, airports, airways, and navigation aids.

  • Understanding of and ability to analyze/troubleshoot hardware, software, and Windows operating systems.

  • Knowledge of networking hardware/software over classified and unclassified government networks.

  • Understand mission planning system functions and external interfaces to include setup and teardown procedures.

  • Must be able to work independently but within the framework established by the

  • Must be able to identify and analyze important factors and conditions in order to recognize and apply an understanding of interrelationships and anticipate customer need.

  • Must decide course of action based on analyses of the subjects and issues related to the assignments and select the appropriate course of action from acceptable alternatives.

  • Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Education Requirement:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems; six (6) years’ work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.

Related work experience required:

4 years’ operating the U.S. Army’s Aviation Mission Planning System (AMPS).

Clearance Required:

Must be able to obtain and maintain Secrect Security Clearance

Essential Requirements:

Physical Requirements – Must be medically and psychologically fit for deployment as defined in DoDI 3020.41, enclosure 3.

Work Environment – Telework environment with occasional work in classroom setting. Can be exposed to extreme weather and temperatures if deployed.

Criticality of Attendance - Must be able to work variable shift hours. With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines.

Equipment and Machines - Standard office equipment and machines: personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.

Other Essential Functions :

Must be able to secure and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Must pass drug testing.

Must be able to read and write effectively in English.

Must be able to work under supervision and respond appropriately and professionally to criticism from a supervisor.

Travel Requirements – Must be willing to deploy under peacetime and armed hostility conditions to support assigned units in a theater of operations of the U.S. Armed Forces deployed outside of the United States.
