ASM GLOBAL, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for an Operations Supervisor at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. The ENTRY LEVEL Operations Supervisor position is the front-line supervisor and is primarily responsible for guidance of house crews during set up, breakdown and changes for all events; preparing and implementing maintenance plans; oversight of Altum CMMS system; oversight of all housekeeping activities, ensuring the cleanliness of the building as part of the Operations Department management team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage union labor engaged in facility maintenance, cleaning, and event setup/operation/breakdown

  • Prepare labor estimates to ensure adequate event coverage based on Event Resume review

  • Ensure green practices and policies are upheld and accurately documented in a timely manner

  • Ensure that all job assignments are completed efficiently and effectively during events and shifts

  • Will become proficient in the use of Altum (in-house CMMS software) and be the point of contact for system use & training

  • Ensure staff is properly utilizing Altum system for WO close out and labor tracking

  • Create and manage a preventative maintenance plan to be implemented by building trades.

  • Submits maintenance requests for repairs, damages, and preventative maintenance via the DLCC ALTUM software system

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required to meet contract deliverables.

  • Assist Director of Facility Services on planning, procuring, scheduling, and managing capital and maintenance projects

  • Assist Senior Operations Manager, Event Operations Manager and Housekeeping Manager with planning and executing projects as assigned

  • Schedule and oversee maintenance work provided by 3rd Parties; ensure work is properly documented in Altum system

  • Reviews inventory needs and housekeeping supplies for upcoming events

  • Effectively communicates with the operations team via start of shift checklist, end of shift outline, and end of day summary

  • Ensures that time and attendance records for hourly employees is accurate and updated at all times

  • Ensures all equipment is in good working order

  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations

  • Ensures proper use of all chemicals by Housekeeping staff in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable law

  • Performs special assignments and other duties as assigned

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Constant (67-100%) Substantial and prolonged standing and walking on concrete and uneven surfaces, 8-10 hrs per day across all halls, meeting rooms, ballrooms, loading docks

  • Constant (67-100%) Vision (corrected or uncorrected), Hearing, Talking

  • Frequent (34-66%) Use of hands, eye-hand coordination, sitting, typing, emailing, computer, radio, and phone work

  • Frequent (34-66%) Exposure to high stress levels, elevated noise levels, dust, and fumes

  • Frequent (34-66%) Perform office related functions in standard office setting.

  • Frequent (34-66%) Carrying, Handling equipment, radios, tablets, cell phones, event signage

  • Occasional (1-33%) Exposure to cold/heat/humidity conditions on show floors during move in/outs and outside the facility with some exposure to adverse weather and working conditions.

  • Occasional (1-33%) Climbing, kneeling, and carrying items above shoulder level

  • Must be able to work long hours, weekends, and/or nights and holidays as events dictate.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • BA in business, sport or hospitality management preferred.

  • 1-2 years similar management experience in hospitality industry

  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills

  • Good organizational and supervisory skills

  • Experience with all computer programs such as Microsoft word, excel and email
