Job Summary
Join Chartwells (part of Compass Group) at the University of Pittsburgh campus as part of our growing Human Resources Team!
Working as a HR Generalist, your main focus will be to support the Human Resources function to meet both the needs of the business and of our associates. The HR Generalist will take the lead role in many functional areas including associate relations, HR specific training, HR legal requirements and compliance, performance and merit increase monitoring, hiring non-exempt associates, and managing associated data.
Key Responsibilities
Ensures consistent application of HR policies, with a focus on adherence to union contracts.
Provides unbiased coaching to associates and management on navigating complexities within employment issues governed by multiple union contracts.
Guides management on disciplinary actions within the framework of union contracts and conducts onsite investigations as needed.
Oversees Applicant Tracking System for recruitment and onboarding.
Ensures strict compliance with federal, state, and union labor laws and regulations.
Maintains and coordinates associate recognition programs.
Supports internal customer survey and associate engagement survey interpretation/feedback process.
Attends department manager meetings to increase HR visibility, conducts training, provides assistance and implements HR initiatives.
Process status change request via HRIS system.
Prepares, coordinates, and presents HR related topics and other HR related training.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
PHR or SPHR designation preferred.
Three plus years human resources generalist experience required; management experience a plus.
HR experience is required.
Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills; advanced skills preferred.
Experience responding to common inquiries from associates, regulatory agencies or others.
Strong presentation skills required.
