The Walt Disney Company 20th Century Studios Literary Intern, Fall 2024 in New York, New York

About the Role & Program

We are the Literary Affairs Department for 20th Century Studios, Searchlight Pictures, and Walt Disney Studios, acting as the studios’ eyes and ears in the publishing world. We seek out books both pre- and post-publication as well as other forms of Intelligent Property such as articles, short stories, and podcasts to consider for film adaptation. Our department has helped acquire film rights to literary properties such as HIDDEN FIGURES, GONE GIRL, and THE MARTIAN. If selected for this role, you will report to the Director, Literary Affairs.

What You Will Do

We are looking for an organized and meticulous intern to aid us in our day-to-day operations. Some of the position’s primary tasks will include:

  • Heavy data entry and record keeping

  • Track industry news and book reviews

  • Assist the VP with various administrative tasks

  • Read and verbally pitch material for the team

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to multitask

  • Passion for books and movies

  • Ability to think critically about content and articulate thoughts succinctly and effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship experience working in publishing and/or content development

Education

  • Recent graduate within 6 months with Bachelor’s Degree in English, Film/Television, or equivalent field.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney Internship or Disney College Program

  • Position is located in New York City, NY

Additional Information

  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship

  • The approximate dates of this internship are August 2024 through December 2024

  • Fully available from Monday through Friday, 10am - 6pm EST for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week

  • Must have housing and reliable transportation to/from work
