Job Overview:

Manages the personnel responsible for the Instrument Management functions of the department to include staffing assignments, communication, counseling, performance evaluations, hiring, corrective action planning and termination in collaboration with the Department Director.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • CRCST- Certified Registered Central Service Technician thru IAHCSMM or CBSPD required

  • CIS- Certified Instrument Specialist required within 6 months

  • CHL- Certified Healthcare Leader required within 1 year

Preferred:

  • Surgical Technologist preferred

  • Work related experience in an acute care Central Service and/or Perioperative Services environment,

  • Ability to develop and implement training programs and the ability to teach,

  • Capable of mature and independent judgment,

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates the daily functions of the Instrument Management services of the department through establishing and communicating priorities discussed with perioperative management team, and determining the staffing schedule and assignment of personnel

  • Analyzes the productivity of the department gearing towards providing high quality service and product

  • Maintains and ensures daily compliance and consistent application of decontamination and sterilization principles, standards and techniques in the facility

  • Develops, recommends and implements policies and procedures for the department in collaboration with the Department Director

  • Monitors and ensures maintenance of department inventory levels

  • Tracks budgets and spending for instrumentation/equipment

  • Maintains the integrity of department records

  • Provides continuous monitoring of the processes of the department by assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation in collaboration with the Department Director

  • Acts as a liaison with the end user department in the coordination of hospital reprocessing activities

  • Serves on committees as assigned by the Department Director

  • Assist in the development of the capital budget for the customer areas considering purchases of items that will require services of the Central Sterile Processing Department

  • Maintains a good attendance record

  • Represents the Department Director in her/his absence and assumes those functions as needed
