Corporate Title: AVPFunctional Title: Assistant DirectorDepartment: Alternatives, Private Debt Investments Reports To: Alternative Division CIO & Head of Private Debt TeamOvertime Eligible (Y/N): NPosition Summary:Play an active and important role in pre-investment strategy research, manager investment and operational due diligence, and post-investment due diligence and reporting in Private Debt Fund investment business. This work will cover various Private Debt Fund strategies and managers.Essential Duties/Function:•Help the team in creating the Private Debt Fund investment platform and investment philosophy in collaboration with Alternative Head in NLGIA and Nippon Life Group’s Tokyo Offices.•Screen and develop new fund investment opportunities through the manager search and selection process.•Build relationships with existing and prospective investment managers.•Conduct due diligence and formulate investment recommendations on Private Debt Funds.•Assist the Portfolio Manager in serving as liaison with Nippon Life Group’s Tokyo Offices regarding the allocations of various alternative investment categories based on investment goals; interpret and prepare data, investment related documents and Investment Committee materials for headquarters.•Assist the Portfolio Manager by actively encouraging the promotion of ESG investment and implementing responsible investment through enhanced ESG scoring. •Prepare regular reporting package for investors including Quarterly Report.•Participate and present in the Quarterly Report meeting for Private Debt Fund, which includes members from Nippon Life Group's Tokyo offices.•Coordinate with external parties in the negotiation and execution of agreements and documents related to Private Debt Fund investments.•Perform post-investment monitoring of funds, including periodic meetings with investment managers and general partners, annual meeting attendance and office visits, etc.•Understand, prepare for and conduct the cash flow management and other operational issues of Private Debt Funds including instructions to administrators,•Support the Portfolio Manager to develop new Japanese clients having an intention to invest Private Debt Fund.•Research and investigate matters as required by Nippon Life Group’s Tokyo Offices.•Manage and maintain data related to underlying fund and company data.•Miscellaneous projects or duties as assigned.Experience/Qualifications:•Strong academic background including Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business/Economics related field. MBA and/or progress toward CFA designation is preferred.•3-5 years of relevant experience in fund investments (including experience in middle or back office), preferably with a focus on Alternative or Credit fund Selection at an institutional investor (including bank, insurance company, pension fund, endowment, foundation, SWF or family office), investment consultant, investment manager, or private equity firm. •Fluency in English is required. Other language ability is welcome.•Strong command of MS Office software, including advanced Excel skills.•Outstanding analytical, financial modeling, clear and concise written and verbal communication skills required.•Ability to work overtime, as required (The team has video/conference call meetings time to time that take place in the NY morning or evening due to time differences with Japan. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus based on qualitative and quantitative factors.

Minimum Salary: 115,000 Maximum Salary: 150,000 Salary Unit: Yearly
