Vanguard Senior Application Engineer - NodeJS and Angular in Malvern, Pennsylvania

As a senior engineer within Vanguard's Personal Advisor Services, you will work on a fully dedicated, cross-functional, co-located and durable team given the autonomy required to deliver solutions which drive new capabilities spanning over 1,000 advisors, while having the opportunity to interact directly with the advisors. You will be working with new and innovative AWS technology stacks, Angular, Typescript, and Node.js.

Work model: This is a hybrid role in Malvern (3-days onsite).

  • Provides senior level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases. Integrates third party products.

  • Translates technical specifications into code for complex new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Writes programs, develops code, tests artifacts, and produces reports. Employs software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that support automation.

  • Elevates code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provides follow up production support. Submits change control requests and documents.

  • Thoroughly understands software development methodology. Thoroughly understands development architecture standards. Trains and mentors staff with less experience. Resolves elevated issues.

  • Participates in design, code, and test inspections throughout the life cycle to identify issues. Explains technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients. Performs systems analysis activities.

  • Thoroughly understands client business functions and technology needs. Has a broad understanding of Vanguard's technologies, tools, and applications, including those that interface with business area and systems.

  • Interfaces with cross functional team members and communicates systems issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience.

  • Thoroughly understands and complies with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures, and verifies that deliverables meet requirements.

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

What it takes:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience

  • 5+ years extensive software engineering experience with at least 3 years of experience in Node.JS

  • Strong experience with Full Stack development (Angular, TypeScript, and Node specifically)

  • Strong experience mentoring and pairing with other developers

  • Ability to implement instrumentation to gather business-specific metrics around consumer usage patterns

  • AEM or Content as a Service tools.

  • Familiarity with Cypress e2e testing is desired.

  • Have experience with software engineering fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, dependency injection, testable code, and algorithms.

  • Write clean, maintainable code, and read code created by others.

  • Be a quick learner who can learn and develop using a new framework within a single sprint.
