Description

We are seeking an individual for the role of a Tax Staff - Corporate, based in Louisville, Kentucky. As a Tax Compliance Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with various tax regulations, including sales and use tax, payroll tax, and property tax. You will prepare and file tax returns, maintain accurate records, and provide guidance on tax-related matters to internal stakeholders. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file tax returns accurately and timely, including sales and use tax, payroll tax, and property tax filings.

  • Conduct research on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify potential tax-saving opportunities.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, HR, and operations teams, to provide guidance on tax-related matters.

  • Maintain tax records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.

  • Assist with tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, providing necessary documentation and support as needed.

  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities.

  • Provide training and support to staff members on tax compliance procedures and requirements.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax compliance, preferably in a non-profit or public sector environment.

  • Strong understanding of sales and use tax, payroll tax, and property tax laws and regulations.

  • Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex tax laws and regulations.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity in work.

  • CPA or other relevant certifications are a plus.
