CBRE Data Center Solutions (DCS) has over 25 years’ experience operating specialist teams that offer consulting, advisory and transaction, project management, and integrated data centre operations services.
We are recruiting a Regional Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Director to join our team and will be responsible for supporting clients to meet with their corporate objectives and in meeting evolving legislation and best practice.
This would include identifying, implementing and validating energy, carbon and cost reductions, as well as broader environmental and social initiatives.
Main responsibilities
Development and where required the implementation of a sustainability or Net Zero plan for our clients, including legal compliance, risk management, statutory and internal reporting of energy efficiency, water use, waste and recycling and sustainable procurement for the region and reporting it back to the Global ESG Director.
Ensuring that all activities under our operational control are conducted and operated in accordance with relevant environmental legislation and/or guidelines. Working with both our operations and projects teams.
Manage works in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver industry leading energy and sustainability service offering.
Establish and implement best practice processes, procedures, templates, specifications and guidelines for all project types and frameworks for the measurement and verification of energy, water and waste efficiency projects.
Collaborate with sustainability team members to align outcomes with our sustainability strategy and facilitate sustainability engagement and training for internal and external stakeholders.
To provide support to Sales Director and Projects Director in client pursuits and develop materials to enhance our offering to clients
To act as the trusted advisor to DCS customers and support creation of end to end strategies that meet their ESG corporate goals and objectives and respond to changing legislation and best practice
Develop and capture and share best practices across the region
Hold events for both internal and external stakeholders
Maintain a thorough understanding of corporate sustainability and governance, legal, statutory and technical issues which affect both DCS clients and CBRE
Understand policies of national and local government level in the area of environmental impact and climate change
Stay up to date and share sustainability updates within new products and services
Primary Objectives and Tasks
Assist clients to measure, monitor and report on ESG
Develop and advise on ESG strategy/solutions, developing these into working projects, which meet client objectives and best practice
Assist clients to meet their increasingly challenging compliance requirements
To be able to normalize and verify savings post implementation
Project management and implementation of initiatives.
Ensure clients benefit from emerging opportunities, innovation and technology
Develop and advise on energy strategy/solutions, developing these into working projects, which meet client objectives and best practice
Identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions within clients’ property portfolios
Calculate potential savings in terms of kWh, CO2 and cost followed by robust validation post implementation.
Assist clients to meet their increasingly challenging compliance requirements
Work with and support the Head of Projects, ensuring that projects are as energy efficient as is financially possible.
Core Competencies
Extensive working knowledge of energy and sustainability, governance including engineering or building services
Extensive knowledge of the principle techniques and technologies which support energy and sustainability
Competency in current benchmark techniques and statistical analysis
Capable of preparing fully costed proposals and reports
Ability to carry out full energy surveys and feasibility studies of energy technologies
Ability to support the formation of client plans to achieve carbon neutrality or net zero
Understand the principles behind HVAC, refrigeration and lighting operation and system design / integration
Skills and Education Required
Qualifications
Degree ideally in energy and sustainability, engineering or building services
Specific energy efficiency / low carbon qualifications are desirable
Relevant professional membership e.g. CIBSE, Energy Institute is desirable
Project Management
Project management skills, with ability to manage multiple complex work-streams and clients, ability to manage budgets
Delivers work efficiently and to time
Experience
Experience in energy efficiency and wider sustainable energy is required
Experience of energy & water management, including compliance would be beneficial
Extensive knowledge of the principle techniques and technologies which support the efficient use of energy
Experience in working across a large portfolio, preferably within a critical sector, would be beneficial.
Technical Skills
Ability to interpret energy & water data and use as a basis for reduction strategies
Knowledge of Low and zero carbon technologies
Communication
Exceptional report writing skills with ability to communicate technical issues effectively
Strong verbal communication skills
Demonstrable ability to instill confidence in clients

Ability to research, analyse and form conclusions on complex issues
Presents compelling arguments to support clients’ decision making
Knowledge of customer operations, business drivers, financials and specialist sources of information, legislative requirements where necessary
