ASM Global Director of Arena in Jacksonville, Florida

POSITION: Director of VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena and 121 Financial Ballpark

DEPARTMENT: Executive

REPORTS TO: Assistant General Manager

FLSA STATUS: Salary/Exempt/Full-time

Summary

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Director of VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena and 121 Financial Ballpark for ASM Jacksonville. The Director reports to the Assistant General Manager and oversees all aspects of the Arena. Responsible for maintaining a superior level of customer service, facility management, and effective relationship with all clients and tenants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the administration, operation, maintenance, safety, security and provide general management of the Arena.

  • Establish guidelines, policies, and procedures for the venue.

  • Assist in developing and implementing an annual capital budget.

  • Develop and manage annual operating budget.

  • Oversight of venue operations and facility maintenance to meet OSHA requirements and ASM Global standards.

  • Act as a liaison between facility and outside interested parties and provide high level of service to key venue stakeholders and tenants, including the Icemen, Jumbo Shrimp and Sharks.

  • Directly supervises Managers, Assistants and Coordinators and the overall operation of the Arena.

  • Maintain excellent working relationship and communication with all departments to ensure proper event management execution with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, customer service, and maximizing revenue opportunities.

  • Meet and exceed contractual benchmarks through established team member training, a guest and client survey/feedback program and facility shopper reports.

  • Implement a guest services program customized for tenant standards/needs.

  • Ensure proper venue maintenance and performance, ensuring the highest-level quality.

  • Prepares statistics, reports, and budget presentations for executive leadership.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Attend and lead staff meetings.

  • Oversee financial settlement of assigned ticketed events.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Represent General Manager and Assistant General Managers as may be necessary.

Qualifications

  • Must have attention to detail.

  • Must have strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills necessary for planning and directing coverage at events.

  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.

  • Must have superior customer service skills.

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills.

  • Must have good computer skills.

  • Must have good organizational skills.

  • Must have strong financial skills including the ability to prepare, analyze and operate Arena and Ballpark budgets.

  • Must have a high aptitude for financial event analysis and advanced writing skills.

  • Must have professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.

  • Must have knowledge of event operations, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services.

  • Must work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.

  • Must maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Four-year degree in Management/Business or related field preferred or professional equivalent.

  • 5 years of progressive facility and event management required.

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience required.

  • Experience in Windows, Power Point, and Microsoft Office software required. Ticketing software and event software preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.

  • Daily lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. Up to 10 minutes at a time.

  • Daily reaching, standing, walking, climbing, sitting, and stooping.

  • Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination.

  • Ability to move quickly from one area to another.

  • Office environment.

  • High noise level.

  • Exposure to the weather conditions.

  • In and out of doors several times a day.

  • Exposure to heat and cold, dust pollen and fumes.

  • Must be able to work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
