Organization Overview:

The LTC Utilities site motto is the “heartbeat of manufacturing”. We provide a critical role in enabling our manufacturing business partners to make medicine through generating and reliably supplying the required utilities throughout the LTC site.

Responsibilities:

This process engineering role is the system owner for the Lilly Technology Center chilled water system. The chilled water system is the largest consumer of electricity on the campus and significant innovation for this system is expected.

This role ensures the system is operated and maintained in a reliable, cost-effective, and compliant manner and that there is sufficient capacity to meet current and future requirements. It includes day-to-day responsibilities as well as leadership of significant site improvement projects. A key expectation is effective interactions with business partners across the LTC site.

  • Project Management:

  • Lead local projects and changes to improve system performance.

  • Develop documentation to ensure system is properly commissioned and remains in a controlled state.

  • Develop and implement site master plan for systems through creation and development of site models.

  • Daily Support:

  • Serve as key member of process team by prioritizing system improvement efforts, providing data, demonstrating sound engineering principles, analyzing KPIs, etc.

  • Maintain efficient communications with site customer groups.

  • Monitor important process parameters to assure system is operating properly and meets all regulatory requirements.

  • Provide appropriate documentation for proper methods to operate and maintain equipment and processes.

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for recurring equipment failures and guide operations and maintenance personnel in the resolution of abnormal process issues.

  • Process Monitoring and Technical Support:

  • Conduct data mining, data analysis, and process monitoring.

  • Assure adequate site capacity for current and future site requirements.

  • Provide technical support to other engineers on complex technical issues as required.

  • Maintain, develop, and conduct training for systems.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering strongly preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or utilities-related role

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Demonstrated level of automation engineering experience with PLC and HMI software programming, hardware, instrumentation, and computer system validation.

  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry including an assignment involving utilities, manufacturing, and project management.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.).

  • Understanding of GMP.

  • Ability to work with multiple business partners (supervisors, engineers, operations, and maintenance) and prioritize when needed.

  • Strong self-management and organizational skills.

  • Robust written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Information:

  • Travel: 0-10%

  • Position is considered flexible and requires on-site presence >80% of the time in Indianapolis, IN.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Position may require availability outside of normal business hours for resolution of equipment-related issues.

  • Must be able to withstand exposure to temperature variations while performing work outside in winter and summer weather conditions.
