Electrical Machine Product Engineer

Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Develop electrical machine / electric motor solutions for electric propulsion systems
Gather requirements via internal customers, market demands, and competitive assessments
Author, revise and release technical specifications
Develop, review, and execute product plans and validation plans according to Best Practices
Support in-house and external test labs to execute tests and present results and conclusions
Prepare and present technical status reports for a variety of audiences
Perform root cause failure analysis troubleshooting
Identify and develop opportunities for product improvements
Participate in field performance reviews and communicate technical knowledge to field support personnel
Support multiple programs simultaneously, including US Dept of Defense
Key Performance Measures:
Competently designs mechanical components and assemblies of electric machines
Effectively leads supplier and cross-functional teams to execute development activities
Competently applies physics and engineering knowledge in problem solving and testing activities and in design responsibilities
Timely completes major and critical work assignments
Effectively communicates project status, problems and priority conflicts, and product or program risks.

Qualifications:
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field, essential
Minimum of 5 years industry experience, essential
Academic or job training in electric motor design, essential
Ability to work on US Government ITAR restricted programs, essential
Measurement systems training, desired
Statistical problem-solving training, desired
Experience:
Mechanical design skills for rotating electric motors
Knowledge of electric motor insulation and encapsulation systems
GD&T and dimensional stack analysis
Familiarity electric motor production processes and process controls
Familiarity with industry standards and application toward eMobility
Problem solving of complex electro-mechanical systems and components
Scope Factors:
Responsible for application of global standards to machine design
Required to submit budget requirements for work scope
Will interact and work with global supplier and corporate team members
Travel or Physical Demands:
Travel to technical seminars, trades shows and suppliers less than 5% of time, including international
Ability to work in tight and low spaces, working around test equipment
Ability to climb into and exit commercial vehicles under development
