JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics Hematology Oncology, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a candidate for a Research Technologist to conduct research and suggest process improvements, train users on equipment technology and procedures, compile and verify data for reports. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Participate in the development and design of research projects
C onduct research under general direction of faculty and/or senior research personnel and according to standard protocols or research plans
Investigate and evaluate research methods and suggest options for improving experimental process and quality
May be responsible for the operation of a specialized laboratory or research area within a department and related data analysis for a research project
May oversee day-to-day operations of project
Collect and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow protocols through a series of related detailed steps or processes
Initiate or contribute data/analysis/design for use in technical reports, documents, proposals, or oral/written presentations
Prepares reports, drafts manuscripts, and may present data at meetings and conferences
Train users in equipment operation and research techniques, explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities, operations limitations and outcomes
Schedule and maintain records of equipment/facility
May assemble, test calibrate, clean or make minor repairs to equipment
May manage a limited budget
May supervise lower level staff, wage employees and/or students
This will be filled at an Professional or Intermediate Professional depending on the candidate's experience and education. This position requires a Bachelor's d egree or an equivalent combination of education and experience . Additional education and/or experience required for higher level positions.
This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$46,400.00 - $74,000.00
