The Mental Health Association of Frederick County is one of Frederick County’s premier nonprofits impacting the lives of thousands each year. For six decades, MHA has been the local leader in defining and supporting the greatest needs in the mental health field. This role will continue a legacy of successful leadership as our current CEO will be retiring.

We are currently seeking a visionary and strategic-minded individual to lead our team as our new Chief Executive Officer.
MHA’s current structure:
Three major divisions: Crisis Services, Family Services, and Childcare Choices
Approximately 140 employees
An established and committed local Board of Directors consisting of 15-20 members
A $9M annual budget
A 60-year history of excellence primarily in Frederick County, however, they offer services in Carroll, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties in Maryland
Job Summary:
As the Chief Executive Officer, you will serve as the principal leader of our organization. You will be responsible for setting the vision and values, defining, and communicating the work culture, and developing and supporting the Board of Directors. Additionally, you will oversee all aspects of operations, including planning, budgeting, financial management, fund development, personnel, marketing, and community relations. You will be the spokesperson and 'face of the organization' in the greater community. We are seeking a leader who will ensure the continuance of MHA’s excellent reputation while guiding and leading the organization towards continuous improvement and thoughtful, strategic growth.
Primary responsibilities will be in the following categories:
Board Administration and Support
Planning and Strategy Development
Financial Management and Resource Development
Human Resources Management
Community Outreach & Strategic Partnerships
Successful candidates for this role will have:
Master’s degree or equivalent experience in public administration, business administration, or mental health related field
At least five years senior management experience in a nonprofit organization
History of building and growing successful teams
Experience as a community leader with a proven record of meaningful impact and growth
