Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Installation, maintenance and repair of a variety of commercial and industrial equipment related to plumbing, structures and carpentry and other various areas of operations. Using a variety of carpenters hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments; making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work. Performs the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment. Work involves all maintenance and repair to structures such as roofs, doors, windows, floors, stairs, and all other aspects of the structure. Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs plumbing system for water distribution systems, oil/water separator and holding tank. Assembles, installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes. Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, using ruler, spirit level and plumb bob. Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic, using hand tools and power tools. Joins pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, couplers, solder, plastic solvent and caulks joints. Required to run hand augers, power augers, sump pumps, electric and manual snake pots, jet rodders, and mini rooter. Performs repairs and inspections in and under buildings. Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, urinals, toilets etc. Outside hydrants, repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains, repair water fountains and urinals. Employees are required to drive company vehicles on a Federal Installation. Must be able to carry equipment and tools up and down steps. The employee must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. Communication Skills: Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers and staff members. Education Requirements and/or Experience: High school degree required. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of journeyman level experience, and/or formal vocational/technical training. Must maintain a valid drivers license. Must have strong plumbing skills
