Army Installation Management Command Maintenance Worker NA-07 in Fort Greely, Alaska

Summary This position is located with the Aurora Community Activity Center on Fort Greely, Alaska. Up to 25% recruitment and retention incentive may be authorized for positions offering at least a guarantee of 10 hours per week. Responsibilities Works alone or in a group performing a variety of tasks involving the maintenance and repair of recreational grounds, buildings and structures, and appurtenant fixtures. Duties require the use of trade practices associated with carpentry and painting as well as work involving motor vehicle operations. May be required to drive vehicles up to and including a 5-ton truck to move furniture, etc. As needed, replaces worn or broken wall switches and outlets. Replaces ceiling light and/or burned out bulbs. Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc.; moves heavy boxes/cartons by hand or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbar, cuts bands using shears; etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Demonstrated skills in successfully operating standard tools. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job. Must have a working knowledge of wood working techniques and basic shop mathematics. Must be skilled in use and operation of common hand and power tools and measuring devices of the carpentry and painting trades to perform a variety of tasks. Must have a knowledge of standard surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. Must have ability to read and follow basic blueprints and sketches. Must have skill in manipulating controls of a motor vehicle. Education Additional Information Area of Consideration: The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is the local commuting area which is defined as Fort Greely and surrounding areas within 150 miles of the installation. PCS Costs Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives may be paid. Up to 25% recruitment and retention incentive may be authorized for positions offering at least a guarantee of 10 hours per week. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
