Southern California Edison Transmission Construction General Foreman [ON-SITE] in Farmersville, California

Job Description

Become a Construction General Foreman at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be directly responsible for supervising multiple crew members in performing new construction, maintenance and repairs of the electrical transmission and distribution system during both normal and storm conditions. You will ensure all aspects directly related to the construction and maintenance activities are optimized including: material management, resource utilization and crew efficiency, while ensuring that safe work practices are followed.   • Communicates corporate policies, goals and objectives to crew members and ensure compliance.

  • Completes work orders in the field as designed per the Transmission Overhead Construction, Distribution Design Standard, Overhead & Underground Construction Standards manuals.

  • Follows accounting procedures for all materials needed for projects and ensures that it is accurately accounted for through the work order.

  • Ensures appropriate training of all team members including coaching and mentoring, career development, as well as administering recognition and guidance while demonstrating the highest standards of ethics and integrity.

  • Responsible for meeting safety, financial, customer satisfaction, reliability, and environmental goals of the company as they relate directly to Transmission, Construction and Maintenance.

  • Collaborates with team, peers, all levels of management, various SCE departments and external customers regarding daily work activities as well as short and long-term projects.

  • Acts as Duty Supervisor and/or support after hour activities.

  • Creates and maintains a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

The essentials

  • Two or more years of experience in the operation and/or construction and maintenance of the electric utility industry Electric System.

  • Supervisory and/or team leadership experience.

  • A valid U.S. driver’s license.

The preferred

  • Associate Degree.

  • Working with environmental compliance and regulatory requirements, including hazardous waste and yard management.

  • Experience working with the procurement process.

  • Handling of the material management process, Regional Prefabrication Center/Regional Supply Center and external vendors.

  • Leading and working with bargaining unit employees.

  • Handling labor relations and diversity issues, and the application of union agreement.

  • Experience with safe work practices, construction/maintenance methods, techniques, tools, and equipment.

  • Experience with GO 95, 128, 165 and Accident Prevention Manual safety rules.

  • Microsoft Excel and Word experience.

  • Analyzing information, making sound decisions that have moderate to significant business impact and developing and implementing strategies.

  • Achieving results through others by prioritizing activities, delegating, and monitoring the progress of assignments, and holding employees accountable for results.

  • Using effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

  • This position’s work mode is on-site . The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.

  • Position will require up to 90% being out in the field in assigned area of responsibility or throughout the SCE service territory, as needed.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
