General Purpose of Job:

This position is responsible for the day to day operations, mission, and program development of Grand View's Drumline program, and will successfully lead and oversee the Drumline program in a cost-effective manner.

Essential Functions of Job:

Grow and develop a successful Drumline Program:

  • Conduct recruitment activities in accordance with Grand View University-s guidelines, rules and regulations.

  • Coordinate recruitment and scholarship activities with the VP for Enrollment Management and Director of Musical Arts.

  • Oversee the academic progress of scholarship students and adhere to University eligibility rules and requirements.

  • Establish an effective schedule for practices and performances (schedule coordination of each) including, but not limited to appearances at football games, homecoming events, pep rallies, music program concerts, area high school sporting events, and more in coordination with the Director of Musical Arts.

  • Lead all rehearsals.

  • Prepare a budget within established guidelines.

  • Organize and direct the fund raising activities for the Drumline Program.

  • Organize and manage summer camps for prospective Drumline students.

  • Promote attendance at Drumline events by providing information for students, faculty, staff and the public.

  • Assist the marketing department, music programs, and athletic sports information office to maintain information on the web page and coordinate television, print and radio information.

  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

  • Follow university procedures associated with the purchase of equipment.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor-s degree required.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills required.

  • Successful recruiting and leadership experience at the high school or college level preferred.

  • Experience developing quality Drumline ensembles.

  • Ability to interact with students, parents, admission staff, and the public in a positive way.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Overall supervision of Drumline program at Grand View University, in coordination with the Director of Musical Arts.

Working Conditions:

Some work is performed in a normal office setting. Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours. During course of day, can interact with students, faculty, and staff by computer, phone, or in person. Must be able to spend extended periods of time for practices and competitions and be able to travel as job demands.
