The Logistics Manager will be the ultimate mastermind behind ensuring our delicious treats travel from point A to B to C (and sometimes D) without turning into a sticky mess. This crucial role is a multi-faceted blending of strategic oversight with hands-on operational execution, ensuring that our logistics network operates smoothly, efficiently, and adaptively to meet the needs of a rapidly changing company and retail landscape. This position will truly own the movement of all products by partnering with internal and external cross-functional teams, with an ultimate goal of efficiency and economies of scale. A strong understanding of the ins and outs of our 250+ Supplier Partner network will be vital to ensure our supply chain remains steady and free of obstacles. What you’ll do? IT’S E xciting!

Strategic Planning and Network Optimization

  • Create comprehensive logistics strategies that optimize movement of products from 250+ vendors to over 120 individual locations.

  • Partner with individual store locations to understand the most effective last-mile solutions.

  • Analyze and optimize the distribution network to ensure efficient flow of goods.

  • Aggressive focus on complex destinations requiring 3PL consolidation (i.e. Hawaii, Canada) including assistance with providing all relevant product information to process through customs.

  • Be a key partner in Buyer/Planner/Supplier strategic partnerships ensuring economical pursuit of bringing key brand stories to life.

  • Identify and engage with strategic partners and vendors who can offer innovative logistics solutions of capabilities enhancing scalability of the chain.

Communication and Coordination

  • Facilitate effective communication between supplier partners, internal purchasing teams, and store operations ensuring alignment of logistics operations with overall business goals.

  • Coordinate special logistics requirements as required.

  • Strong risk management, contingency planning and troubleshooting abilities minimizing disruption to Store Operations.

  • Actively participate in cross-functional team meetings and assignments as required.

Vendor and 3PL Partnership Management

  • Serve as the primary freight-related point of contact for all dropship vendors.

  • Ensure all supplier partners meet shipping, packaging, and delivery standards.

  • Select and manage 3PL logistics providers for specific regions, ensuring they align with the company’s logistics strategies and cost targets.

  • Assist in contract negotiation and service level agreements to maximize value and efficiency Lead all import-related activities in partnership with Buying, Planning, and Supplier network.

  • Regularly audit all freight-related expenses for the company, including the sharing of ongoing freight costs from various sources down to the vendor/store level where possible.

Operations and Process Improvement

  • Develop, maintain SOPs and provide oversight of each functional process.

  • Oversee the entire dropship process, from order placement to delivery ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of orders to all stores.

  • Continually assess and improve logistics processes, leveraging technology and innovative solutions to reduce costs and improve service levels.

  • Lead product flow into and out of new and closing stores, respectively including extensive partnership with New Store Opening (NSO) and Store Closing Teams.

  • Drive overall company freight costs down through a variety of strategic and tactical efforts.

Regulatory Compliance and Inventory Control Partnership

  • Ensure all logistics operations comply with all local, national, and international regulations, including customs regulations for international shipments.

  • Implement a strategic approach to customs compliance, staying ahead of regulatory changes and ensuring accurate classification and valuation of goods.

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity of goods received from suppliers and 3PL partners.

  • Integral partner in all of the company’s physical inventory events, playing a vital role in purchase order clean-up prior to physical counts.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery plans for the logistics network, ensuring rapid response capabilities due to natural disasters, geopolitics events, or major supply chain disruptions.

  • Manage all freight claims and dispute scenarios through to resolution.

Technology Integration and Data Analysis

  • Implement and utilize logistics and supply chain management software to streamline operations – this may include research and recommendations of new solutions.

  • Deploy tracking and analytics systems to monitor the status of shipments, enhancing visibility and predictability within the supply chain.

  • Analyze company logistics performance including development of KPIs to identify trends, bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.

  • Report on logistics KPIs to senior management.

  • Stay abreast of emerging logistics technologies and practices including generative AI for predictive logistics.

  • Monitor logistics costs, including shipping rates and 3PL fees, working to optimize and reduce expenses without compromising service quality.

What you need to join the fun! (besides SUGAR)

  • MUST have 3+ years of Freight Management experience, preferably in a retail environment.

  • MUST have International/Remote (non-contiguous US) shipping experience.

  • A deep understanding of freight management, drop-shipping and warehouse operations.

  • Experience with transportation of perishable/heat-sensitive products is recommended.

  • Experience with 3PL warehousing is strongly preferred.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (especially with MS Excel) are required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics/Supply-Chain Management, Business Administration is preferred.

  • Strong communication skills both written and oral to all levels of the organization.

  • Strong ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced, growing environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an attention to detail.
