Job Summary
Facilities Summer Intern - Temporary
Hiring Range: $15.00 - $17.00 hourly
(salary to be commensurate with qualifications).
This position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm, subject to change. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non-exempt.

Assists with a variety of entry-level maintenance functions associated with HVAC, plumbing, and architecture for the Facilities and Strategic Infrastructure Management (FSIM) Department.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Completes rotational internship program, including assisting with, shadowing, and performing maintenance functions in the areas of HVAC, plumbing, architecture, and other related crafts, under direct supervision.
Performs other duties as required.
Supervision Exercised: This classification does not have supervisory authority and requires no supervision or direction of others.
Supervision Received: Receives direct supervision. This classification normally performs the duty assignment after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with little room for deviation. Frequent direction, guidance, and coaching from supervisor is expected.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to accomplishing facility maintenance and repair.
Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment commonly used in building maintenance.
Ability to carry out safely assignments in accordance with instructions and established procedures.
Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Required Education and Experience:
Current high school student; or
Graduate from current high school year
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Completed or in-progress vocational training classes.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, drug screen, and physical examination.
Work Conditions
Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors and require the ability to perform laboring tasks in adverse weather and/or environmental conditions. Position involves extensive standing, bending, reaching, and kneeling. Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds. This is a temporary position typically not to exceed five (5) months.
