What you'll be doing

As a member of the US Learning & Development team, you’ll work in a fast-paced and collaborative culture where you’ll make a meaningful difference in enhancing organizational performance, and the employee experience while advancing CIBC’s overall corporate strategy.

As an Instructional Designer & Facilitator, you will recommend, design, and deliver content for a variety of learning and performance solutions. These solutions are based on learning and performance objectives, job-specific procedures, activities, and measures of success. To function effectively, the Instructional Designer & Facilitator must have excellent facilitation and presentation skills, instructional design skills, communication and writing skills, the ability to manage multiple and competing deliverables, and experience designing and delivering content for adult learners in a variety of formats, including e-learning, self-guided, and instructor-led, and different modalities including audio and video.

  • Understand US Region Strategic Business Units’ current and emerging business needs, priorities, and market trends to act within the business context.

  • Provide instructional expertise and guidance on assigned projects ensuring the development of engaging and innovative learning solutions.

  • Apply instructional design models and adult learning principles to design and facilitate effective learning programs.

  • Facilitate learning sessions virtually and in person to a variety of audiences to support employee development and business goals. Select appropriate learning methods and media that support learning outcomes.

  • Maintain industry knowledge and understanding of marketplace trends to develop best-in-class learning solutions.

  • Provide creative designs for blended learning environments incorporating both synchronous and asynchronous options.

  • Develop and curate learning paths to build capabilities with existing learning solutions.

How you'll succeed

  • Design a range of solutions utilizing a variety of approaches to suit multiple learning styles and to achieve learning objectives. Gather and assess existing learning and business materials to create a modern learning experiences that are relevant for the identified audience in partnership with Senior Learning Consultant, Learning Advisors, and subject matter experts (SME). Define measurable and achievable learning objectives that support performance outcomes.

  • Deliver and implement quality learning on time – Complete high-quality learning solutions with agreed-upon parameters and success criteria. Identify updates to simplify content and enhance the learning experience.

  • Facilitate inclusive learning experiences by delivering engaging learner-centric sessions that accommodate different learning styles and needs. Facilitate activities and discussions to promote learner engagement and retention. Cultivate a culture of learning through delivering meaningful learning offers and building strong business relationships.

  • Present content by creating detailed design plans, instructional strategies, objectives, research results, etc. Create recommendations including content highlights, key concepts, and multimedia ideas. Prototype where possible.

  • Collaborate across functions to achieve an understanding of the perceived needs or gaps, then determine appropriate training tools and methodologies such as e-learning, multimedia, virtual workshops, knowledge objects, and blended solutions. Coordinate with our internal editors and Learning Management System admins, when necessary, to implement the learning solutions.

  • You can demonstrate 1-3 years of experience in designing successful e-learning, instructor-led and self-guided training materials, and extensive knowledge and application of instructional/information design principles. It is an asset if you possess Post-Secondary Adult Education or Instructional Design education or certifications, for example, ATD Adult Learning Certificate.

  • You can demonstrate experience using Workday, Articulate 360, and Microsoft Suite. Bonus if you have Lectora experience.
