City of Cambridge Clerical Aide in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Under the direction supervision of the Fire Chief, the primary function of this position is to support the Fire Chief with administrative tasks. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Update department rosters regularly. Update personnel information as it changes. Generate General Orders, Special Notices, and other forms of departmental notifications. Assist in the planning and implementation of programs. Track personnel use of accrued time off. Maintain files. Any other duties required by the Chief for the good of the department. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Excellent communication, organizational, analytical and planning skills. Must have good keyboarding skills; be proficient in Microsoft Word, Power point and Excel or similar database application with the ability to learn new systems. Working knowledge of office equipment including PC\'s, calculators, photocopiers and telephones. Two years of office work experience particularly in the area of administrative tasks and support. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Answer telephones and maintain multiple files. May require minimal lifting of up to 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Standard office environment. Fluorescent lighting, carpeted floors and air conditioning. Requires attendance at some meetings.
