Procurement Specialist – Category

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we are seeking a dynamic Procurement Specialist – Category to join our team. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of managing and enhancing our assigned spend categories. You'll be a key player in collaborating with our diverse, cross-functional team, including sourcing, operations, technical, finance, and other essential colleagues. Your mission? To prioritize sourcing initiatives, craft effective sourcing strategies, and negotiate contracts, all while ensuring a smooth transition of spend from incumbent to preferred suppliers and managing these crucial relationships.

What Will You Do?

Scale of Responsibilities:

  • As part of our team, you'll execute global category initiatives that aim to achieve key performance indicators like savings, supplier rationalization, low-cost region sourcing, and risk management.

  • We rely on you to support the execution of global sourcing strategies, focusing on contracting with preferred suppliers who align with our business needs and category management goals.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Stay ahead of market intelligence and trends, adjusting our category plans to meet evolving business requirements.

  • You'll play a critical role in engaging with division/site procurement teams and other key colleagues, qualifying preferred suppliers, and transitioning spend effectively.

  • Analyze supplier performance data to identify improvement opportunities and establish continuous improvement goals.

  • Manage contract negotiations and supplier business reviews, ensuring mutual compliance and goal achievement.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to align all category sourcing activities with our shared goals and priorities.

How Will You Get Here?

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a technical field, with a Master's Degree preferred.

  • At least 5 years of procurement/sourcing experience in mid to large multinational companies, showcasing strong category (electronics)/business engagement experience.

  • Experience in highly regulated industries and a continuous improvement environment is highly valued.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams across multiple geographies.

Travel Requirement:

  • Ability to travel 25 to 50%.
