Boehringer Ingelheim Director Global Alliance Management in Biberach, Germany
The Position
As a member of the Business Development organization, the Alliance Manager will manage strategic alliances to support the external innovation objectives of the Innovation Unit at Boehringer Ingelheim.
In this role, you will engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels to maximize the value of strategic alliances and mitigate potential risks.
Your expertise will guide these alliances, aligning the vision, goals and overall objectives with the alliance partner. You will oversee partnership governance, facilitate joint decisions, and ensure their smooth and effective implementation. This role requires you to act as the primary liaison between Boehringer Ingelheim and our external partners, establishing and maintaining a trustful relationship.
With your contributions, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the long-term of these strategic alliances.
Tasks & responsibilities
In your new role you will establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to effectively manage strategic alliances.
You will implement governance, including steering committee meetings, in line with contractual obligations and facilitate decision-making processes.
It will be your responsibility to monitor and ensure adherence to research and development plans mutually agreed with our partners and maintain an overview of financial obligations related to each alliance.
In addition, you will ensure operational effectiveness and compliance in assigned alliances.
You will moderate and balance interests between our partners and Boehringer Ingelheim to jointly drive the alliances towards success, . This includes proactively identifying and resolving conflicts.
Requirements
Advanced scientific degree (PhD, MD or MS) with knowledge in Boehringer Ingelheim’s therapeutic areas
Extensive experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry, ideally with expertise in Business Development & Licensing, Transactions, Alliance Management
Comprehensive knowledge of the R&D processes with emphasis on non-clinical and early clinical development highly preferrable. Substantial familiarity with the development of companion diagnostics and related regulatory processes beneficial
Proven track record of impactful engagement in external partnerships, such as acting as a project leader, alliance manager, or contract negotiator
Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills in a global matrix organization
Understanding of patents and legal concepts in contracts, and their implications in the context of partnerships
Financial acumen and experience with cross-cultural management is a plus
Strong team player with emotional intelligence and a collaborative attitude, including the ability to moderate between different stakeholders with varying needs and interests
Strong conflict resolution skills and authentic communication style in English
Willingness to travel internationally up to 15% of the time
