Associate Manager Environmental Monitoring

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Manager Environmental Monitoring, are to:

  • Supervise and provide technical expertise for Quality Control Environmental Monitoring testing;

  • Provide effective leadership including: individual goal setting/performance reviews; training and coaching employees; ensuring appropriate staffing levels are met, effectively managing employee performance issues and corrective actions; recognizing and appreciating employee contributions, supporting workforce diversity, quality and safety, and all other activities/functions which support achievement of individual/department/business objectives;

  • Act as system owner for electronic systems used in QC Environmental Monitoring (example: MODA, LIMS Sapphire, SAP);

  • Identify any problems/improvements with current systems and work with vendor/support groups to fix and improve the system through change control;

  • Act as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for all topics related to electronic systems used in QC Environmental Monitoring;

  • Manage balance between technical and management issues using multiple skill sets including analyzing, evaluating, creating, reasoning and reaching conclusions and can meet changing priorities;

  • Initiate Incident reports for discrepancies observed during operation, perform investigation, and partner with cross-functional colleagues;

  • Chair inter/intra-departmental teams as well as independently manage project teams from project inception, execution, implementation, and sustainment;

  • Represent QC Environmental Monitoring during audits by regulatory agencies.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science or technical field;

  • Five-six years of experience in pharmaceutical or related industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience;

  • Two or more years of experience in Environmental Monitoring in support of a licensed or late stage clinical pharmaceutical product;

  • Experience and accomplishments in laboratory testing including the following: Sampling and processing of environmental monitoring samples or utility system samples;

  • Familiar with GLP/GMP rules and regulations;

  • Experience with equipment/electronic system troubleshooting;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including preparation of presentations and chairing meetings;

  • Working familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access;

  • Ability and initiative to work with minimal supervision;

  • Experience working in a functional team environment;

  • Ability to quickly and logically determine the root cause of and solve problems encountered on a daily basis and guide others to do the same;

  • Make sound decisions and correctly evaluate the performance of subordinates;

  • Proven ability to express views and opinions;

  • Listen well and accept conflicting point of views;

  • Detail oriented, good communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to lead and motivate bargaining unit employees.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience;

  • Experience in the Biopharmaceutical or biotechnology industry;

  • Experience with an electronic Deviation/system.
