Position Summary:

The Day Habilitation “Day Hab” Program Manager at is responsible for the overall management and operation of Vaughn House. A local nonprofit that has been serving deaf adults with disabilities in Central Texas since 1969, Vaughn House serves adults ranging from 18 to 70 years of age and more than 50% of their deaf clients have additional disabilities such as intellectual and development disabilities, cerebral palsy, and visual impairment. They empower multi-disabled deaf adults to participate fully and equally in society through these four programs: Workforce, Day-Habilitation, Supportive Home Living, and Job Quest/Readiness.

Essential Job Functions:

Manage and ensure adherence to all Day Hab provided contracts. With support from Easterseals Lonestar Senior Management, negotiate new and renewal contacts to generate the greatest revenue allowed and maintain full capacity of the program.

  • With Easterseals Lonestar Senior Management’s approval, hire all Day Hab Specialists. Supervise and support Day Hab Specialists in their daily functions and ensure that the highest quality of care is being provided to all Day Hab clients.

  • Manage and maintain all operational facets of the Vaughn House Day Hab program. Monitor and keep current or maintenance associated with vehicles, building and supplies utilized on behalf of Day Hab programming. Maintain compliance with vehicle registrations and inspections. Responsible for overseeing necessary repairs to maintain safety and comfort of the Day Hab staff and clients.

  • Ensure compliance with required training and continuing education Day Hab staff including but not limited to CPR/First Aid, safety, infectious disease, de-escalation techniques, and all staff training required by Day Hab contract providers. On behalf of Day Hab staff, secure, and maintain required annual checks such as criminal background checks, vaccinations, etc.

  • Responsible for creating and managing all Day Hab specialists work schedules. Work schedules should adhere to budgeted salary line items and all changes to schedules require prior approval from Easterseals Lonestar Senior Management. Any derivations from scheduled work hours must be reported to the Easterseals Lonestar Senior Management prior to the end of each pay period.

  • Ensure all Day Hab programming, services and activities support the individual goals and behavior plans of each Day Hab client. Monitor and respond accordingly to clients exhibiting unusual aggressive and/or high-risk behavior, follow all reporting guidelines related to incidents.

  • Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds.

  • Ability to drive up to 12 passenger vehicle and operate a wheelchair lift.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma/or GE required

  • Minimum three (3) years working directly with deaf adults with developmental disabilities in a group home and/or community living setting.

  • Experience with medical billing and associated documentation and client services.

  • Must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and manage a team of direct services staff; Knowledge and skills related to delivering quality programming and services to individuals with significant levels of disability and need for supervision; Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to deliver best practices and engage internal and external stakeholders in positive and effective ways.
