Job/Position DescriptionDirector V(DAC)The Deputy Associate Commissioner (DAC) under the Associate Commissioner (AC) for Infectious Disease Prevention (IDP) Division will assist in the coordination and oversight of the agencyand#146;s public health mission, including directing the IDP Division Operations Business and Administrative Support functions, cross coordination activities and leading agency initiatives. Ensures optimal day to day performance of essential Division business functions and oversees daily operations. Supports the Division providing oversight and direction of planning, implementation, supervision and monitoring all operational activities of the Division. Provides support to the AC regarding oversight, coordination, and implementation of strategic planning for IDP Division. Represents the Division and the AC through involvement with public health partners, health departments, organizations, coalitions, and committees. Supervises staff in the Office of the AC and represents the Division on behalf of the AC by participating in executive and senior level groups, meetings, and on committees, task forces, and inter-agency and intra-agency workgroups as requested. Provides daily oversight to Division office staff, facilitates meetings, and communicates with internal and external public health partners to meet identified objectives. Has wide latitude for independent judgment, decision-making and direction of activities. Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. (40%) Assists the Associate Commissioner (AC) for IDP Division in the management, coordination, and oversight of staff. Provides counsel and advice to the AC regarding strategic operations of community health programs and their impact, and planning. Leads the management of the day-to-day operations of the Division. Evaluates Division operations and makes recommendations to develop and implement process improvements. Formulates strategic solutions on matters involving infectious disease surveillance and response and advises accordingly. Provides leadership, guidance, and oversight to stakeholder groups and other groups that support the IDP Division. Works with Division leadership to implement solutions that will affect section staff.(20%) Represents the AC at internal and external meetings and serves on committees, task forces, and interagency workgroups as requested. Will serve as back-up to the AC and lead executive meetings. Conducts quarterly review meetings of task forces. Attends workgroup meetings and brief AC of findings and outcomes. Provides leadership, guidance, and oversight to stakeholder groups, advisory councils, task forces, and other hoc groups that support the IDP Divisionand#146;s mission, goals, and objectives.(20%) Project management expertise on key projects and leadership of Division wide workgroups. Conducts periodic evaluations to determine if objectives are being met and reports finding and recommendations for improvements to the AC and agency leadership. Establishes goals and objectives and ensures effective facilitation of work teams. Works with the Section leadership to identify and resolve risks/issues. Holds regular Section leadership team meetings. Ensures deliverables are accurate, complete, and deadlines are met.(10%) Plans, assign, and supervises the work of others.
