Position Summary
In support of Morehouse School of Medicine’s Vision; “Leading the creation and advancement of health equity,” the Department of Surgery is seeking Physicians to join their team.
The Department of Surgery at the Morehouse School of Medicine is seeking to hire a Basic Science-Open Rank Faculty to join the Department of Surgery Research Division.
The Department of Surgery seeks qualified candidates to expand our translational research program as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. We are particularly interested in candidates who have established research focused on immuno-oncology and immunotherapy.
The qualifications and experience of the successful candidate will determine faculty rank. The primary criterion for appointment for faculty in the Research Division is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists.
The successful applicant should have a record in translational research, have completed postdoctoral training with a PhD, and possess a substantial record of scholarly activity with current extramural funding or a high likelihood of securing extramural funding.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
Must meet university criteria for appointment as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.

Job Duties
Description of Job Duty
· Candidates are expected to contribute to graduate or medical school education
· Perform basic and translational research related to the pathophysiology of diseases relevant to the broad field of surgical research, with particular emphasis on immuno- oncology and immunotherapy, publish in major peer-reviewed journals, and maintain an independent, extramurally funded research program.
· Candidates are expected to serve on departmental and university committees as deemed appropriate by the Chair.

Immunization Requirements
It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
