405 -Lead Program Instructor
The Lead Program Instructor provides direct care to persons with developmental and/or physical disabilities. They will implement service plan and other habilitation programs. They act as a role model for Day Program Instructors, Floaters and Drivers, and are responsible for task analyzing all given work and for designing training methods with the assistance of the designated supervisory personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Trains new and current employees.
Schedules employees and flexes own schedule to avoid overtime costs.
Co-facilitates staff meetings with supervisor
Once Medication-Certified, administers prescribed oral and topical medications under written direction of physician. Assists individuals in daily activities including daily hygiene functions when necessary.
Implements behavioral goals, teaching strategies, monitoring procedures, exercise programs and other team recommended programs and procedures.
Assists in the completion of individual assessments.
Asks for assistance from co-workers and supervisors when unsure of job duty and refer to program policies and procedures for job clarification.
Essential employee – assist in scheduling trained staff to fill in shifts for this position during scheduled time off due to the essential function of this position.
Supervises and assists in the preparation of food for individuals following special prescribed diets and food consistency. Implements eating procedures as written.
Maintains specified level of supervision of individuals in the community.
Documents case notes, communication logs, programs, incident reports, abuse and neglect reports, safety reports, fire drills, time sheets, mileage forms, Therap and other required documentation timely and accurately.
Lifts, transfers, and positions individuals safely and as stipulated in service plans.
Follows the Critical Information/Individual Data Form for each individual.
Works at and administers medication at alternative program site when assigned
Audits all books (Case Record Books, Program Books, Kardex Books, etc.) for accuracy and completion.
Assist in creating and implementing schedules (activity, transportation, caseloads, etc.).
Demonstrate and implement incidental teaching. Assists in the implementation of Individual Follows emergency on call procedures and all other Marrakech policies and procedures.
Uses and maintain adaptive equipment (such as wheelchairs, walkers, etc.) according to manufacture specification.
Implements Physical/Psychological Management Training, CPR, and First Aid as required
Report unsafe situations to the supervisory staff in a timely manner. Maintain barrier free exits at assigned program site.
Operates motor vehicles safely and in accordance with State Law (agency and personal automobiles) while on work related duties.
Uses lift on high-top vehicles appropriately, may be required to drive own vehicle for work.
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIESUnderstanding the nature of human systems: individual, group, organization, community and society, and their major interactions for individuals with developmental disabilities. Skill in identifying and selecting natural opportunities, which promote growth and goal attainment for individuals with developmental disabilities. Skill in implementing interventions for individuals with developmental disabilities. Process skills, which are required to implement services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEAssociate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent in Human Services, Special Education or related field. Experience working with persons with disabilities in a community based day or residential program. A high school diploma and one-year of residential experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.
SCHEDULE
M-F 8a-4p
SALARY
$19.02/hr increases to $19.46/hr after 6 months. If DDS Medication Certification is acquired, rate increases by $0.50/hr.
