SUMMARY: Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Pressure System Engineer who will primarily be responsible for designing, developing, and testing hardware for the storage and distribution of pressurized gases aboard Axiom Station. This position reports to the ECLSS Pressure Control Manager . This role is onsite and will be based at our ASTC facility.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work on a collaborative team developing Axiom’s Pressure Control Assembly (PCA) for low Earth orbit and beyond.

  • Collaborate on a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop and manage requirements for PCA hardware.

  • Select components with appropriate sizing for flow and pressure requirements, as well as material compatibility, demonstrating technical excellence.

  • Design and develop test rigs for testing PCA hardware with agility.

  • Plan and perform testing of PCA components and integrated assemblies with organizational support.

  • Create models, test plans, and procedures for verification and validation to ensure designs satisfy requirements and demonstrate performance to improve outcomes.

  • Perform trade studies for technology development to rapidly develop solutions.

  • Analyze fluid system performance and make recommendations for improvement, demonstrating our value of together.

  • Develop knowledge and expertise to serve as a department Subject Matter Expert (SME), including learning new tasks to gain deeper knowledge and insight, demonstrating our value of leading.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field required.

  • 5+ years’ experience in microgravity life support engineering, pressure systems engineering, or similar role required. A combined equivalent of education and experience may also be considered.

  • Experience with high pressure systems (>500 PSI), vacuum systems, or oxygen systems preferred.

  • Experience with flight hardware design, testing, or certification preferred.

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
