Cornell Cooperative Extension 4H Camp Hidden Valley: Maintenance Manager - Watkins Glen, NY in Watkins Glen, New York
The mission of Hidden Valley 4-H Camp is to provide youth with a fun, residential camp experience under the guidance of positive role models that emphasize community building, positive social interactions, environmental awareness, and skill building.
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining and cleaning camp buildings, grounds, and equipment. The Maintenance Manager is not required to live on camp.
Duration
The Maintenance Manager will assume this role during the week beginning June 23rd, one week of mandatory staff training from June 30th through July 7th, and five full weeks and one partial week of residential and day camp running from Sunday at 11:00 AM to Friday at 6:00 PM except the weekend starting August 9th. This weekend will be a working weekend for all camp staff. The specific dates the Camp is in operation are July 7th through August 13th. The Maintenance Manager will remain on Camp until August 16th to assist in closing the camp facility.
Specific Responsibilities
Maintain equipment, grounds, and buildings of the camp
Keep a daily journal of tasks accomplished
Removal of garbage
Cleaning of bathrooms, showers & dining hall entryway daily
Maintain duties as Safety inspector
Check smoke detectors and fire extinguishers, and make sure all doors are clear.
Supervise and work with any Summer Youth Employees assigned to daily cleaning of camp
Report general conditions of camp property, including dishwasher, water system, and equipment, to the Camp Director, who will then contact the State Park Office if necessary
Check and record chlorine levels in the water daily
Assist in camp purchases of cleaning supplies, paper products, etc.
Keep inventory of supplies
Supervise and actively participate in the opening and closing of camp
Other duties may be assigned as required
Qualifications
21 years of age or older
Ability to organize work efficiently in general maintenance and cleaning of camp
Basic carpentry, electrical, and plumbing skills
Ability to supervise and organize youth and adults
Valid U.S. Drivers License, subject to motor vehicle check
Good character
POSITION DETAILS
This is a full time, (TEMPORARY) exempt position.
Salary and Benefit Details
The rate of pay will be $2200.00. (Rate will be reduced for any time scheduled but not worked during the period) The pay rate is commensurate with experience, certifications, responsibilities, and availability. Benefits are not available for this position.
