Summary These positions are located in Blue Ridge Parkway in the Maintenance & Engineering Division. This is an open continuous vacancy announcement. This Job Announcement is for a temporary position not-to-exceed 1039 regular hours with a FULLTIME work schedule. Responsibilities The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is March-October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: As soon as Possible Assist journey-level, or other higher graded maintenance workers under general supervision in general landscaping and grounds maintenance, basic carpentry, simple electrical installations or repairs, basic plumbing work, and painting interior and exterior surfaces, and perform a variety of janitorial services. Removes trash and debris from roadway and road sites. Operates farm type tractors and associated attachments used to mow maintained roadside landscape areas. Operates trucks up to 1-ton to pick up supplies, transport materials to and from work site, picking up materials from local vendors, or plowing snow as needed. Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Working Conditions: Exposed to a variety of seasonal weather conditions while working outdoors (temperatures -40 to 90+ degrees). Subject to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding.
