Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Aggregates Scale Operator to join our team at our Aggregates facility in Villeneuve, Alberta. This role reports directly to the Materials Logistics Manager. This role is subject to seasonal layoff.

What You'll Get To Do

  • Greet our customers, answer phones, generate accurate point-of-sale information, liaise with the depot management team on inventory/customer issues, and assist drop-in customers as required including providing initial safety instructions to visitors

  • Manage the scale house, weigh, and dispatch trucks, ensuring that all trucks leave with the correct product and weight

  • Maintains radio communication and acts as a key connection with loader operators, drivers, and other plant personnel

  • Notify Dispatch of material unavailability or any issues regarding orders

  • Enter customer information into multiple systems, including JWS

  • Produce daily reports

  • Manage customer billing, including compiling, preparing, and reconciling invoices and tickets

  • Make deposits and reconcile daily cash sales

  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Experience and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 2 yr. degree preferred

  • Intermediate level computer skills including Microsoft Office applications

  • Solid organizational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and flexibility to adapt to changing business situations

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written

  • Ability to work extended hours and irregular schedules

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, and lift boxes occasionally

  • Must have own transportation, some requirements for travel to remote sites

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment

  • Experience in the Aggregates, Construction, or Transportation industry

  • JWS experience a plus, but not required

Work Environment

  • This position is primarily located indoors but requires conducting business in conditions that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, dusty environment, and moving mechanical equipment. Work is performed at an active work site.
