JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Student Health Insurance (https://studentaffairs.psu.edu/health-wellness/health-insurance) is a department within University Health Services (https://studentaffairs.psu.edu/health) and is the office responsible for providing health insurance for students at University Park and the Commonwealth Campuses.

Student Health Insurance is seeking a Student Insurance Assistant to be a resource to the Student Insurance Manager by handling the day-to-day data analysis of key programs associated with the Student Health Insurance office. This position is a backup and trainer for the Student Insurance Advisors and a backup for the Student Insurance Coordinator in providing orientation and informational sessions as needed and requested. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Workday (WorkLion) processes that impact Student Health Insurance and graduate assistants, graduate fellows, and graduate trainees. Primary responder to inquiries or concerns regarding Workday. Download the weekly medical files from Workday and import the files into the Student Health Insurance database. Review weekly term reports and update systems accordingly. Review monthly arrears reports and monthly & bi-weekly Unsupported Retro Reports and work with Human Resources and Payroll in WorkLion to resolve arrears issues via Inquiries through Neocase.

  • Monitor spreadsheets in the Teams folder. Responsible for LionPATH Premium Adjustments to remove Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) for Penn State premiums or to work with students who need to purchase the SHIP for Penn State outside of open enrollment. Work with the Fee Assessor to have late fees associated with the SHIP premium removed as appropriate.

  • Work directly with the SHIP for Penn State medical insurance vendor with the Student Insurance Manager. Assist in the setup and review of all documents, rate sheets, brochures, and certificates. Assure accurate data by working with and reviewing enrollment and waiver information. Answer questions and review data as requested by the SHIP for Penn State medical insurance vendor. Participate in calls with the medical insurance vendor on a weekly or as-needed basis.

  • Work direction with the Student Affairs Information Technology staff. Work on Student Health Insurance projects and error reports to assist in developing processes that are streamlined and accurate.

  • Assign PSU ID numbers in DIMC (Digital Identity Management Center) as needed for spouses and dependents of students on the SHIP for Penn State. Work with HIM (Health Information Management) to address PSU ID number duplicates and/or corrections.

  • Work directly with various specialty groups to ensure the enrollment of their students into the SHIP for Penn State. These groups include Humphrey Fellows, Turfgrass Management, and the Intensive English Communication Program. Work with HIPP (Health Insurance Premium Payment Program) to verify that students are enrolled in the appropriate benefits. Review the DGF Endowment fund spreadsheet and complete it as requested for the Graduate School.

  • Complete the weekly file downloads from the medical insurance vendor and Workday into Lion Health (SHI database). Correct errors identified in Lion Health. Export weekly files for University Health Services electronic health record import and export the weekly file adjustments for the medical insurance vendor. Review the audit reports in Lion Health to ensure that all data is correct in Lion Health.

  • Provide orientations for students and departments. Handle questions and giveaways at tabling events such as resource fairs, Graduate School fairs, and other events as requested.

  • Participate on search committees as requested - especially for SHI - and train new hires to the department.

  • Assist SHI staff with questions and/or concerns that arise. Act as backup to the Student Insurance Advisors by answering phones and working with walk-ins to the office.

    Education and experience:

Minimally requires an associate's degree and 4+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Attention to detail and careful follow-up with collaborators

  • Microsoft Office365

  • LionPATH and WorkLion

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
