Amazon Sr. Global Supply Manager, Devices Supply Chain & Logistics in Taipei, Taiwan

The Global Supply Manager (GSM) is responsible for supply continuity from product launch through end of manufacturing. To succeed in this role, you need excellent problem solving skills, ability to build relationship with internal and external partners and strong understanding of Semiconductor commodity management. The GSM will own supply planning throughout the product lifecycle and engage directly with component suppliers. The GSM works closely with Global Commodity Management (GCM) to evaluate supplier performance, prepare for supplier meetings, and build the Supplier Plan of Record (SPOR) for each product. GSMs need to adapt to rapidly changing environment and constantly drive excellence across their own responsibilities as well as that of team members and partners. This job requires travel up to 50% both domestically and internationally.

Key job responsibilities

Assess program demand forecasts and ensure supplier has adequate capacity in place to support demand.

Work with suppliers to understand sub-tier raw material demand and successfully forecast to tier-n suppliers.

Support to manage VMI and HUB raw material and raw materials buffer programs.

Understand and execute end to end supply chain, including distribution, consolidated and streamlined inventory management

Assess and mitigate supply chain and project timing risks to the business.

Interface with Planning, GCM, and Product Operations to assess current and future sourcing requirements.

Interface with Global Commodity Management teams to provide inputs related to supplier selection, supplier business reviews, CAPEX, escalations.

Interface with Materials Management to identify material shortages at contract manufacturing sites and work with the supply base to close shortages ensuring on time delivery of components.

Manage product change notices (PCN)s from suppliers and confirm validation requirements.

Demonstrate excellent communication abilities to senior leaders both internally and externally.

A day in the life

Work with suppliers and internal customers to solve supply chain issues focusing on supply requirements to support demand changes, purchase order lead times, capacity, quality, excess and obsolescence.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field

• 7+ years in high volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environment.

• 7+ years of direct experience in supplier/supply chain management or strong mechanical engineering background in product development.

• Proven ability to influence across multiple functional teams.

• Flexible and able to adapt to dynamic and rapidly changing environments.

• Ability to toggle between strategic and detail orientated thinking.

• Be an excellent communicator, capable of working in multinational environments, driven and motivated by accomplishing extraordinary objectives.

• Knowledge of basic supply agreement construction; understanding of key contracting provisions/requirements.

• Experience with MS Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree

• Exceptional ability to solve problems and coordinate with global team members

• Extensive negotiation experience with global suppliers with a proven track record in cost reduction

• Ability to be innovative in issues related to supply chain management, supplier relations, quality assurance and the associated measurement systems

• Strong analytical skills
