CITY OF SPRINGFIELD Professional Engineer - Water Quality Management in SPRINGFIELD, Missouri

The City of Springfields Department of Environmental Services is seeking applicants for aProfessionalEngineerposition (option to underfill as an Engineer III). The position will be in our Water Quality Management and Protection Division and may focus on some or all the following areas:

  • Manage infrastructure planning and capital improvement projects with design consultants;
  • Work with a team of GIS and data analysis professionals in collection system assessment, performance, and asset management;
  • Update and utilize the sanitary sewer hydraulic model;
  • Perform capital/program planning and rehabilitation improvement analysis;
  • Design of wastewater infrastructure improvements;
  • Review of sanitary sewer engineering plans for community development projects.

The ideal candidates will seek innovative solutions and have a technical background in water resources, environmental, sanitary sewer, stormwater, or wastewater engineering. About the Department of Environmental Services

Environmental Services is responsible for protecting the quality of the water resources in and around Springfield. Environmental Services manages over 1,200 miles of sanitary sewer infrastructure, two award winning wastewater treatment plants, water quality compliance with the Citys municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4), and the regional municipal landfill. In 2021, Springfield was highlighted as 1 of 13 municipalities in an EPA report to Congress with an implemented Integrated Plan for the Environment. Qualifications and Requirements

**Experience, Education, and Training

Professional Engineer**

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;

AND

  • Four years of experience in engineering work.
  • Engineering experience must be commensurate with assigned specialty area required for current vacancy.

Engineer III (Underfill option):

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;

AND

  • Three years progressively responsible engineering experience;
  • Must possess an Engineering Intern (EI) certificate from a State Board of registration for Professional Engineers within probationary period;
  • Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for the EI certification.

Licensing/Certification

  • Must possess a Professional Engineer's license;
  • Must possess MO license as issued by the Missouri State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers within six months of employment.
Functions

Professional Engineer:

Salary Range: $65,145.60 - $101,358.40 Annually

Engineer III: Salary Range: $60,673.60 - $94,390.40 Annually
