Wieland is hiring a Operations Manager. The Operations Manager will be responsible for leading the manufacturing and distribution functions for Shelbyville, KY. The role supports, directs, and manages the operational staff. This role assists in ensuring that all facets of production operations are performed safely and efficiently by demonstrating the standards of behavior expected of a Wieland leader. This role is located in Shelbyville, KY and will be fully on-site.

Responsibilities

Operations Manager Responsibilities:

    General Operations
  • Direct the day-to-day operations of the team through effective leadership techniques to achieve safety, production, and quality goals.
  • Drive the Safety-First Culture; lead and engage in safety improvement initiatives to achieve zero OSHA recordable injuries and the prevention of near misses.
  • Develop, maintain, and engage in culture initiatives throughout the plant.
  • Direct and build a high-performing team through effective leadership techniques and training.
  • Manage variable costs by deploying strategies to flex costs and achieve targeted variable unit costs per pound.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement of the Organization for future growth and success of the organization.
  • Support execution of capital projects and plans, driven by site operational needs and overall strategic needs
  • Support the design and execution of maintenance systems to achieve equipment reliability and capability.
  • Ensure facilities meet site-specific safety, financial, quality, and service goals.

  1. Manufacturing & Building Operations
  • Ensure that manufacturing and production meet customer needs efficiently with a quality product.
  • Assist with hiring, training, managing, and scheduling personnel to meet customer demand.
  • Ensure the plant is safe and all equipment is safe to operate and in good working order.
  • Ensure manufacturing and distribution operate safely and consistently.
  • Evaluate the current process flow of incoming & outgoing material and make necessary improvements.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the building, equipment, and property.
  • Includes site-related permits, audits, reviews, and capital expenditure requests.

Operations Manager Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations, or an equivalent level of experience.
  • Previous experience or knowledge of manufacturing and distribution of non-ferrous metal is strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant industry experience with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Critical computer skills required - Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Learning Management System.
  • Strong decision-making ability to bring people and information together for timely decisions.
  • Ability to bring the appropriate people and information together to make timely decisions.
  • Ability to influence and shape the course of action through persuasion and negotiations.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and communicate with individuals across a broad range of education, experience, and functional backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communication, and organization skills.
  • Strong analytical ability to employ a systematic approach to problem-solving.
