Diageo Procurement Category Director, Indirect APAC in Shanghai, China

Job Description :

Purpose of the role

The Global Procurement function at Diageo plays a key role in fueling growth and value, every day everywhere. This role sits in the APAC Procurement Team and is key to driving the transformation innovation and deliverables of business service and expansion programs in the APAC region. The role reports into the (Sr.) Procurement Category Director - Marketing & Indirect Procurement - Asia Pacific.

APAC is one of the strategic and growing regions for Diageo. With many exciting business expansions, we are looking for a seasoned procurement profession to lead APAC indirect procurement with 3 category managers covering HR Services, Travel & Entertainment, Professional & Corporate Services, Facility Services & Real Estate in 10 major markets across APAC.

You will be responsible for:

Own Indirect Category Team KPIs through AOP (Annual Operation Plan/Business Reviews) -

  • Cost Savings – drive sustainable cost efficiencies through category strategic initiatives, managing demand, as of AOP and alignment with finance and business.

  • Cash Improvement – Deliver cash benefit and contribute to cooperate cash flow

  • Compliance to procurement policy including sourcing guidelines, contract coverage for a targeted spend %, supplier risk management, supplier diversity, etc.

  • Supplier Relationship/Performance Management based on the supplier segmentation.

Category Strategy Development

Always challenge the status quo and drive transformation by keeping the supplier base right with capabilities and leading competence fit for business, the commercial model with transparency and competitiveness, the supplier performance measured, reported and relevant to commercial.

Provide coaching and develop team capabilities

Provide daily base coaching in dealing with complexities to the team, make team development plan focusing on opportunities through conversations, train the trainers, leveraging every resource internal and external.

Business engagement with key stakeholders

  • Always understand business needs along with the ever-changing business context.

  • Make Category strategies be well catering to the business-needs/context, translated to category performance needs.

  • Ensure presence of procurement support, driving alignment, consensus, and recognition at different levels of stakeholders.

Connection with global category leaders

Being around with the global category community and keep learning and sharing.

Collaboration with GBO (global business operation) such us sourcing operations, Vendor master team

  • Collaborate with GBO team in driving user experience, efficient STP (source to payment) cycle.

  • Embrace and pioneer new trends such a digitalization in sourcing, contracting, and supplier relationship management. Etc.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Proven record with regional Procurement experience in an FMCG environment or other relevant industry.

Categories exposure in at least 3 of the indirect categories: HR Services, Travel & Entertainment, Professional & Corporate Services, Facility Services & Real Estate.

Inspiring and inclusive leadership to head up a mature indirect category team, lead by example and purpose.
