Blue Origin LLC Senior Structural Analyst - New Glenn in Seattle, Washington

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-liftorbital launch vehicle capable ofroutinelycarrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar,and beyond.Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designedfrom the beginningto be human-capable. As part of a diverse and hardworking team, you will be responsible for performing and coordinating structural analysis on the reusable first stage of the New Glenn launch vehicle. This is a hands-on position that involves all aspects of structural analysis, including: configuration development and trade studies, developing novel and efficient approaches to challenging analysis problems, creating analysis reports to support drawing releases, supporting structural test development, performing post-test analysis, disposition manufacturing defects, analyzing structural repairs, and more. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering and 5+ years of experience with aerospace structures Ability to generate free-body diagrams to calculate internal loads and reaction forces, and to help simplify and idealize structural problems of varying complexity Experience with classical aerospace analysis methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, etc.) Familiarity with typical structural requirements and criteria from one or more aerospace field: aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, etc. Experience with static strength, stability, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis of aerospace structures (e.g., skin-stringer, frames, struts, fittings, bolted joints) Strong finite element modelling skills with experience building and post-processing mid-surface meshes, handling large or sophisticated assembly models, performing model verification and validation, and solving non-linear solutions Demonstrated proficiency with one or more of the following finite element software packages: NASTRAN, Optistruct, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Preferred Qualifications: Composite analysis experience (especially sandwich panels) General knowledge of composite materials, manufacturing processes, typical defects and repairs Experience with Hyperworks finite element software Experience with Hypersizer structural optimization software Analysis process automation and/or scripting (VBA, Matlab, Python, FORTRAN, etc.) Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $136,467-$191,053 Other site ranges may differ Inclusivity Statement Don't meet all desired requirements?
