About you and this role:

The Dow Chemical Companyhas an exciting and challenging opportunity to be part of Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero Program. We are looking for aLP8/LP7R Commissioning and Start-up Mechanical Leadto support a large scale capital project to be built in Fort Saskatchewan and Prentiss Sites.

This role will support efforts for the Path2Zero program, which will create the first net-zero emissions site of its kind in the world. This role will be working closely with the Maintenance and Reliability representative and be a key member of LP8/LP7R Commissioning and Start-up team. Upon the completion of the project the selected candidate is intended to fill the role of the LP8 Maintenance engineer. The selected candidate will lead the mechanical commissioning and start-up of the LP7R project inPrentiss (AB, CAN)followed by the commission and start up of the LP8 gas phase polyethylene plant inFort Saskatchewan (AB, CAN).

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The responsibilities of this role during Project Construction, Commissioning and Start-up including of:

  • Lead the development of Mechanical Equipment Commissioning and Start-up Procedure.

  • Lead the development of Commissioning and Start-up Binder.

  • Review of Mechanical Equipment Protection Plan and participate in field audit throughout construction phase.

  • Lead the development of Mechanical Equipment PPM, Lubrication, Vibration, Lifting device inspection, HVAC equipment PPM Program.

  • Collaborate with Reliability Engineer for Equipment Reliability Strategy implementation.

  • Review of Mechanical spare part and setup stocking quantity aligning with ERS and site requirement.

  • Support in setting up C&SU database in Provenience for Mechanical Equipment.

  • Work with Maintenance rep. to setup plan for Mechanical C&SU resources

  • Work with Maintenance rep. to setup plan Mechanical tool and special tool.

  • Lead the development of Mechanical Equipment repair procedure.

  • Review process automation setting for Mechanical equipment

  • Lead Mechanical Commissioning and Start-up activities.

After the Project is RTO, this role will be transitioned to LP8 Maintenance Engineer role with the Fort TES Organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.

  • At least 2 years of relevant industry experience is required.

  • A background in maintenance and reliability engineering is required. ​

  • Registration or the ability to be registered with APEGA (EIT/P. Eng).

  • A background in Gas Phase technology is preferred.

  • Must be willing and able to meet all applicable requirements related to business travel (e.g., as to immigration and visa rules, public-health mandates, airline rules, etc.) into and out of (and physical presence in) various countries world wide.

  • A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.

Additional Notes:

  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this role and may be provided based on eligibility.

  • It is expected that the candidate will begin the assignment inPrentiss (AB, CAN). At a later date, the candidate will relocate toFort Saskatchewan (AB, CAN)to support construction as well as preparation and execution of commissioning and start-up activities. Upon the completion of the project the selected candidate is intended to fill the role of the LP8 Maintenance engineer in Fort Saskatchewan. This plan and timing are subject to change based on the program.
