JOB SUMMARY

The VP Product Management Customer Acquisition & Activation Experience is responsible for leading the overall strategy and alignment with senior leaders for the assigned product suite, creating the multi-year product vision, investment planning, and roadmap of products, solutions, and capabilities that we deliver to customers and clinicians across Highmark Health. The incumbent will be responsible for End-to-end product management to provide easy purchasing and enrollment services to buy products that suit the customers’ unique needs​.

The VP of Product Management works closely with senior leaders in Living Health Solutions, Sales, Marketing, Product, Provider, Clinical and Operations to develop and evolve the Living Health integrated strategy, define business goals and health outcomes (including how to incorporate business outcomes into the product offering), and direct the associated portfolio roadmaps for alignment to strategic objectives.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a group of Portfolio Leaders, Product Managers, and Functional Product Management Analysts to drive Living Health Product Management initiatives.

  • Applying a customer-centric lens to all opportunities and interactions, develop and evolve the Living Health integrated capability strategy and direct the associated portfolio roadmaps for alignment to strategic objectives.

  • End-to-End product alignment for both the assigned product category suite, as well as full integration to business and IT strategies across the health care administration continuum and oversight of product lifecycle management to ensure value achievement.

  • Leads overall strategy and alignment with senior leaders for assigned product suite, delivering on the mission of the specified requirements and agreed upon product backlog, allowing for appropriate alignment of the product innovation and mission, this will include showing significant industry experience in the overall product suite.

  • Actively engage and build relationships with Sales, Marketing, Product, Provider, Clinical and Operations business units across the organization and delivery partners (product ownership, program/project management groups) in technology, analytics, marketing, and other enterprise groups, to align strategies, leverage resources, and maximize value.

  • Leverage expert design knowledge to collaborate with stakeholders to define, plan, and design the appropriate solutions from a customer and clinician point of view to achieve customer engagement, clinician engagement, health outcomes, and affordability targets and in support of the Living Health vision.

  • Partner with the CoE to develop, administer, and monitor a set of product management standards and playbooks, lifecycle management practices, performance evaluation frameworks, structure/process for product business cases, and oversight & governance to ensure consistency of work across the enterprise.

  • As the leader of this function, this role will be responsible for standing up new capabilities, enhancing existing solutions and coordinating with Product Management groups across the organization to develop and maintain an integrated, end-to-end product roadmap.

  • Will leverage market research, competitive intelligence, customer/clinician insights, and business intelligence to curate solutions, influence strategy, and prioritize investments.

  • Will influence, enforce, and monitor for the use of Product Management standards, lifecycle management practices, performance evaluation frameworks, and coordinates with the Product Owner and Program Management groups across the organization to drive adoption & use of the standards and practices—enabling consistent delivery and a strategic approach to our overall portfolio.

  • Leveraging technology as an enabler, this job will also partner with the design, architecture and delivery teams to ensure expert and other enterprise resources needed for an effective design process are deployed consistently, and alignment of critical business processes to ensure the successful realization of value in delivery.

  • The role regularly engages with Technology, Data & Analytics, Strategic Programs, and various Vendors for planning, design, solutioning, architecture, management, operations, and delivery to develop platform foundational capabilities and integrate solutions.

  • All of this work is in service to delivery on and realizing the value of the Living Health vision of combining technology, a deep understanding of customer behavior and clinical best practices, and the ability to see the journey of a customer and their clinician to improve the situation.

  • Develop a prioritization and capability/solution roadmap management process to coordinate with Product Managers across the organization and maintain an integrated, end-to-end product/capability roadmap for the enterprise and manage governance to ensure that all solutions being worked on across the enterprise are aligned to strategic objectives and do not overlap or conflict.

  • Coordinate with Product Owners within technology and Program/Project Management to adjust the integrated, end-to-end product roadmap based on solution feasibility & sequencing.

  • Evaluate resource capacity (supply & demand) of strategic solutions on the roadmap to determine resource needs and work with enterprise delivery partners to align on allocation and timing.

  • Collaborate with the Vendor Management Office, Enterprise Technology and Enterprise Analytics to define a unified vendor selection process, including technical standards, data/integration requirements, and guidelines for partner evaluation, selection, and ongoing management.

  • Define product/capability evaluation framework and facilitate the establishment of metrics & target goals for each product/capability investment and assess performance of current products/ solutions against that framework.

  • Direct product lifecycle management practices and work with enterprise partners to create improvement plans to reach targets and inform decisions to scale, maintain, replace, or retire solutions in the portfolio.

  • Assess and align overall portfolio to meet current and future customer (member, client, broker, provider, government, etc.) needs by considering leading edge technologies and market trends and incorporating the feedback received from experience designers, business stakeholders, business and software architects, delivery teams, clients, customers and clinicians.

  • Ensure the implementation and adherence of government regulations, mandates, and process improvement initiatives.

  • Perform management responsibilities to including, but not limited to involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity.

  • Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develops and implements policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority.

EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 10 years of experience in healthcare strategy and execution

  • 10 years of experience in platform and omni-channel solution delivery

  • 5-7 years of deep breadth and depth of business knowledge across relevant functions (product, marketing, operations, etc.) in healthcare or similarly regulated product industries

  • Understanding of Agile Development techniques and tools

Preferred

  • Experience managing complex initiatives in the consulting, healthcare, or insurance industry

  • Track record of driving transformational change, leading teams, developing talent, and building relationships

  • Practice of Human Centered Design and/or Design Thinking process and methods
