Job Summary

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Uses shop math, algebra, geometry and trigonometry and mod drawing to determine the correct, most economical method to produce the mold.

  • Possesses the knowledge to properly operate tracing lathes, tracing mills, grinders, milling machines, etc to produce quality molds.

  • Possesses the knowledge to calculate the coefficient of expansion of iron to determine joint clearance, etc.

  • Performs bench work to had grind and chip prisms, logos, etc. in various molds.

  • Operates overhead hoist and quick stack to load and upload machines.

  • Makes tracer for use on tracking mills or lathes as required.

  • Repairs broken molds as necessary

  • Assists in training of mold maker apprentice.

  • Occasionally makes special tools required to complete mold.

  • Uses precision measuring devices as required.

  • Completes required reporting on a daily basis.

  • Assists others in resolving production difficulties to insure a smooth and efficient operation.

  • Keeps equipment and work area neat and orderly

  • Uses safe working practices and reports all hazardous conditions.

  • Keeps supervisor informed of material, process and equipment needs and problems.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education (minimum education required)

High School Diploma Equivalency/ GED

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

  • No prior experience or training.

  • Ability to canulate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry our instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
