Boqueria Restaurant Director of Learning and Development in New York, New York

Boqueria® Restaurants is on a mission to be a best-in-class learning organization in the restaurant industry – and are looking for a dedicated Director of Learning & Development to lead the charge. Boqueria is a Spanish tapas restaurant group on the East Coast, with 10 locations spread throughout NYC, DC, Chicago, Boston, and West Hartford and an 11th set to open in Atlanta in 2024.

Are you our Director of Learning & Development?

Reporting to the VP, Human Resources (People & Culture), the Director of L&D partners with Operations and People & Culture to direct, plan, implement and maintain training, development, and performance enhancement programs aligned with the objectives and strategy of the company including a best-in-class company culture.

This role is expected to influence others; create and implement organizational structures, systems, and resources; innovate and move the business forward, be a thought leader and a change agent.

Responsibilities:

Here’s the kind of work you’ll get to do:

  • Create and improve all-level, company-wide learning and development curriculums, content, and programs that support our operations and culture.

  • Ensure all team members have access to content, tools and systems to execute at the highest level and constantly grow within the organization

  • Measure, evaluate, and continually improve learning and development programs as operational performance drivers (sales, productivity & profit) and team member success (engagement & retention).

  • Develop in-restaurant certified training team members and build restaurant opening training teams.

  • Enable and support a Learning Management System (Wisetail) for users and content.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with certificate or study in the areas of Human Resources, Adult Learning, Training, and Organizational Development

  • 5+ years of restaurant experience, preferably in an upscale or fine dining chain

  • Knowledge of curriculum and training design principles, teaching and instruction of individuals and adult learners, and measurement of training and development program results.

  • Proven learning and development leadership experience.

  • Proficient in a variety of technology, especially Wisetail, Articulate 360 & MS Office.

  • Excellent stand-up classroom teaching skills.

Preferred

  • 3+ years of instructional design/content development experience or facilitation of workshops, seminars, or training meeting

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SP preferred
