Pfizer Director, Strategy & Consulting, Global Commercial Platforms in New York City, New York

ROLE SUMMARY

Reporting to the VP, Strategy & Consulting, Global Commercial Platforms, this role will help shape, develop, and enable strategy development and execution to advance and grow Pfizer's portfolio and the three global commercial platforms - Marketing (CMO), Medical Affairs (CMAO), and Market Access (GAV). These platforms constitute Pfizer's commercial engine and enable execution of US/International brand commercial strategies. This role/team 1) Facilitates development of each platform's strategic plan and roadmap, 2) Manages a portfolio of strategy projects related to key brand/business needs, and priorities across these platforms, and 3) Provides insights and strategic direction into the market and competitive dynamics to improve business performance.

While this position reports into the Strategy & Consulting team organizationally, this person will partner closely with the Platform leadership teams, stay connected to key business challenges and opportunities, and ensure that there is alignment with strategic priorities, or adjust priorities where necessary

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with Platform leaders and/or platform functions to understand and leverage value drivers and develop business strategies at a global and local level. Identify key strategic imperatives and capabilities.

  • Enable an integrated marketing model, accelerate brand performance, and enhance marketing effectiveness across the marketing funnel.

  • Contribute to development and execution of short and long-term US/International medical strategy. Help develop and maximize medical COEs (Center of Excellence) to drive execution excellence.

  • Leverage understanding of US/International Payer landscape and healthcare systems to help develop access strategies and solutions.

  • Lead, direct, or actively participate in a portfolio of projects that provide insight and direction for key strategic levers such as market development, customer needs assessment, competitive advantage, market, and/or product prioritization.

  • Provide perspective on the potential impact of external market signals that could impact future business performance. Develop a deep expertise in market dynamics and identify market trends to appropriately assess opportunities and guide strategic direction.

  • Develop external relationships that provide perspective to the diverse eco-system outside of Pfizer as it relates to the areas of the business you support.

  • Collaborate with other colleagues and teams within the Strategy & Consulting organization to identify opportunities across commercial categories for alignment or best-practice sharing.

  • Actively participate in the Strategy & Consulting team, supporting Pfizer strategy through the perspective and experience of the organizations you support.

  • Direct and provide day-to-day oversight to project teams of colleagues with varying levels of experience, coaching and developing them to build capability and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS - required, life sciences degree helpful. Advanced degree in a related field preferred.

  • Minimum 8 years relevant healthcare experience; relevant experience includes working in or with commercial functions involving strategy development and/or strategic initiatives (e.g., marketing, medical affairs, commercial development, market access & pricing, etc.)OR 6 years relevant healthcare experience with advanced degree.

  • 3+ years of biopharmaceutical consulting experience strongly preferred.

  • Prior experience of working within and knowledge of Marketing (CMO), Medical Affairs (CMAO), and/or Market Access (GAV) is strongly preferred.

  • Understands trends, value drivers and market dynamics in US and Global healthcare and biopharmaceuticals, aware of competitor strategies, and understands the drug development process.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels of the organization without direct authority (Category Presidents, department leaders, and functional counterparts). Must be able to influence executive commercial and research & development leaders.

  • Demonstrated strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to tee up the right questions, identify alternative scenarios, articulate resulting implications, and develop recommendations for decision-making or action.

  • Ability to understand and translate market and competitive dynamics into strategic implications for platforms and BUs.

  • Demonstrated project leadership, managing complex workstreams and large teams of cross-functional colleagues with varying backgrounds and skillsets.

  • Demonstrated ability and experience in overseeing the day-to-day work of junior resources, including providing coaching, mentorship, and development.

  • Basic understanding of finance and P&L implications of strategies.

  • Ability to work with complex information and distill into a framework that helps facilitate decision making.

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and lead with indirect authority.

  • Excellent presentation skills sufficient to address Platform and Executive Leadership teams and external audiences.

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $161,600.00 to $269,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
