Responsible for providing patient care for elderly, convalescent, or specially challenged people in patient's home. Accompanies ambulatory patients outside home, serving as a guide, companion, and aide. Obtains household supplies, runs errands, and visits several households to provide daily health care to patients. Maintains records of health condition of the patient and the services performed.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Changes bed linens, washes and irons patient's laundry, and cleans patient's quarters.

2. Buys, prepares, and serves food for patient and other members of family, following special prescribed diets.

3. Assists patients into and out of bed, automobile, or wheelchair, to lavatory, and up and down stairs.

4. Assists patient to dress, bathe, and groom self, massages patient, and applies preparations and treatments like ointments, alcohol rubs, and heat-lamp stimulation.

5. Administers prescribed oral medications under the written direction of the physician or as directed by the home care nurse.

6. Entertains the patient, reads aloud, and plays cards or other games with the patient.

7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) Certification.

Preferred:

1. 1 year of experience supporting elderly, individuals with physical or mental disabilities or relevant area.
