Insight Global Electrical Engineer (HVAC) in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Description

An employer is looking for a highly skilled electrical engineer to join one of our largest national clients for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. This is a hybrid position, which requires you to go on site to their Golden Valley location 3/5 days a week. This team recently promoted an engineer to manager on their team and has recently seen an influx in requests from their original equipment manufacturing customers to create new products. Therefore, in this role you'll be joining a growing team, and working on custom-built projects for original equipment manufacturers. The projects you'll be working on are usually appliance or HVAC focused, therefore any experience working with small to large appliances, and within the HVAC space will help you be successful on this team.

Skills and Requirements

-Bachelors degree in electrical engineering

-At least 5 years of experience within electrical engineering

-Experience working on projects from design to completion

-Experience with basic analog circuit design such as inverting, non-inverting, and transconductance amplifier configurations.

-Familiarity with standard topologies of switching power supplies.

-Understanding requirements for embedded circuit design: signal conditioning, noise mitigations, transient protection, etc.

-Circuit simulation and design including creation of schematics for new designs, modifying existing schematics, and conducting a tolerance analysis to ensure proper operation.

-Able to lay out multilayer PCB's or provide guidance to a layout technician to mitigate problems such as part interferences, high voltage spacing violations, and electrical noise susceptibility.

-Able to lead qualification programs including writing test plans, supervising test procedures, troubleshooting failures, and reviewing/writing reports.

-Experience interfacing with approval agencies such as UL, CSA, TUV, etc. -Experience with HVAC or residential appliances is a bonus

-Familiarity with Mentor Graphics schematic capture and layout tools is a bonus null
