Description The R&D Machine Design and New Equipment Manager at PAC Worldwide will oversee all projects related to machine design and new equipment. They will ensure each machinery modification projects and new machine designs are appropriately managed for delivering the agreed upon results to support company goals. This includes all stages of the product lifecycle to include ideation/development, formulation, and optimization working in synergy with the material expert managers. The technical ownership will include working with sales, customer experience, product manager and operations in meeting customer requirements to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Gathers and analyzes voice of customer. Meeting customers (including users of our products). Enabling PAC to be in front of future needs on the different angles of a given product. * Optimizes design of the current products and modifies existing machines when applicable based on customers feedbacks and needs. * Have an active role on Market Watch for new equipment & technologies and make recommendations to PAC. * Supports and works in synergy with the materials experts: Paper & coatings and Flexible plastic * Entertains a positive innovation culture and contributes to the future innovation ecosystem PAC will need for entering new markets. * Achieves projects in time and structure (work with dates, detailed plans: Project charters, Gantt chart, Smartsheet, etc.). Addresses and communicate actions plans when there are gaps. * Communicates directly with sales, product manager, materials experts, OPS, engineering and customers. * Focuses on innovation projects to grow PAC revenues and margins. * Ensure expected service levels and timelines are met for all stakeholders * Manages the projects to achieve performance standards/goals/milestones, to include documenting performance through regular and formal annual reviews * Monitors deliverables with all stakeholders to ensure high levels of service and performance by the department *Provides technical guidance/subject matter expertise/mentorship on flexible packaging materials to the TD group as needed *Provides technical expertise for the full scope of the product line, materials, quality, mechanical processes, labor processes and final packaging for customer delivery * Responsible and accountable to improve, change and resolve issues on current product lines, working cross functionally with stakeholders *Reviews and maintains records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures & certifications *Keep abreast of new methods/technologies/equipment affecting supported product lines, recommending, and incorporating these as needed by sales/customers/business goals *Helps materials expert managers to create material specifications of products approved for use in production processes * Identifies and evaluates new technologies and materials to improve system integrity and achieve greater efficiency in production processes and product performance. *Prepares cost-benefit analysis on the impact of new materials/processes on production processes and product performance *Work cross functionally to organize and oversee production trials of new products or materials taking full ownership for outcomes/improvement/changes needed *Works closely with production leaders during the introduction of new products, changes to existing products or materials to ensure a smooth transition to the production *Follows up with customer, product manager, customer experience/sales to ensure customer satisfaction, addressing any issues quickly *Responds to internal requests for support as it relates to production processes of product line *Evaluates performance of finish product and supports specialized testing whe
